New intel build. any ryzen alternatives?

hello~

i guess what i'm looking for is if there's a cheaper alternative here? like a good ryzen build or something?

i'm getting an upgrade for a workstation pc. i listed the parts i'll get here. i'm still deciding on the case but i can put that last based on what parts are good.

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/raveninja/saved/YN7jXL

i tried to get the reasonably cheaper ones that are available in my country. & note as well, i already have the creative zxr. the others i'm still contemplating on it. i just added it the zxr in case you guys might notice anything wrong or what. i also don't plan on doing overclocking but i'm gonna be sticking 2 qhd monitors here. no heavy gaming other than perhaps, league of legends. it's mostly for productivity & work. not sure about the liquid cooler too... maybe i don't need to get one?

i'll try to build it in a small windowed case if possible. i particularly dig the style of fractal & nzxt cases. but as i said earlier, this can come last as i'll work with what's left of my budget. haha

as for the storage i have a bunch of hdds lying around that's why i'm only getting a sizeable ssd. i'm also gonna be setting up a nas a little later on so i just need a good ssd for this. maybe add 1 or 2 hdds later on but mostly off load the bigger chunks of files to the nas.

thanks in advance guys!

You can get R5 for same price, will perform better (Will also help if doing anything multi-threaded, like rendering).

Edit: Also no need for an AIO for a locked CPU, included cooler will be fine (Same with Ryzen, especially if you dont want to OC).

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

R5 1600 (6 core 12 thread) with B350 chipset mobo I'd imagine will cost about the same. Check ram compatibility if you go that route. For CPU cooling something like Noctua U14S would be fine for either Intel or AMD options. The Intel system might still be faster if you run either fewer threads or FPU heavy workloads, but the AMD would probably be faster in highly threaded loads. You can also do some light overclocking on the AMD side to help offset the low thread performance. I'm running my 1600 at 3.6 GHz fixed at stock voltage but that is pushing the stock cooler to its limits and I will replace.

Don't waste so much money on a useless sound card. Same for CPU cooler. Stock cooler is fine. $40-50 air cooler would be more than enough. Almost $300 for RAM is ridiculous, especially 2133MHz speed. 16GB is fine, if you really want 32GB, get a 2nd set of the 2x8GB G Skill stuff. Significantly better PSU. Get the larger capacity MX300 if you wish but 525GB is still pretty large capacity.

Funny how everyone is building better rigs without the price of the 1070. What is your budget? PCPP now shows only the price of parts sans the 1070

I looked up the cost of that 1070 they listed. https://www.google.com/shopping/product/10517854500827298736?q=NE51070015P2-1041J&safe=off&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS739US739&biw=1600&bih=770&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.&tch=1&ech=1&psi=gZMiWYjQL-nMjwTYtI3wDw.1495438212811.3&prds=hsec:online&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjH8om9_YLUAhVkzIMKHaNDCsEQ2SsIDg From what google pulled up (NOT IN ANY WAY COMPREHENSIVE) It's atleast $450 after shipping. What I love is how everyone keeps forgetting about the OS

I wouldn't go with Jet it can be helped. Super slow and sketch delivery company is used.

Would also go with a more standard 250gb ssd + 1/2TB HDD to invest in a better psu.

He already said that he has a couple of HDD's lying around and he wants a sizeable SSD. He can buy the parts from a different company but it's cheaper than his build.

Must have missed that, it's near bed time before work. The build is still solid, though.

You. An dowload windows 10 for free from microsfts own site, and use it without activating it for as long as you want, but you will be stuck with the text "Active Windows. Go to settings to activate windows" in the bottom right corner. Other than that, you have the full version of windows. It's even legal

wow. thanks for all the tips! let's see.. first off sorry for the confusing bits.

budget-wise, i'm pretty much flexible here. but of course, i don't really plan on getting what i wouldn't need. if i can stay within $1000 that's really awesome. i can afford up to $2k but i wouldn't really wanna go there if i could avoid it.

to paint a more accurate price of what i've listed there, i'm actually getting those here: dynaquestpc.com (one of the cheapest i found here in my country)

so lemme list those prices to give you guys a ballpark figure or something.

also, i always run out of memory whenever i use my work stuff. yeah... 16gb isn't enough to make things smooth. this is why i really prefer to have 32gb of ram instead of just 16gb. fruity loops & adobe are real memory hogging pigs i tell you. i couldn't face palm enough whenever my pc starts slowing down when i'm working with either of these stuff.

price btw is about $1300 here in the ph.

if a 1060 can run dual qhd monitors i wouldn't mind going that route too if it means i can go for an i7 as maybe this is much more useful in my case? things i'll mostly do here are stuff like adobe things & some image editing software. as well as some lighter stuff like sai & figma i guess. others would be fruity loops and reaper... other than that... bluestacks, i guess?

i'm not all too familiar with ryzen but i'll look up more stuff about this tonight to know more about it.

Capture.JPG

edit:

i decided to forego the cooler too as you guys said i really wouldn't need it if i'm not overclocking. so yay! $100ish off is a good thing haha
