The Ability to Close Comments on your own post

Guest

I know that I've definitely dealt with this issue a lot, but I think that posters should be able to close their own comments because when I mark something as solved, I don't really want more comments. Don't know about anyone else, but that's how I feel

If someone has a different opinion on the post that was marked solved, they should be able to say it

If i mark something as solved if it has worked for me.

If nobody has helped me resolve the problem i leave the question open. Simple as that.

NOT doing this helps for feedback from people with the same problem commenting on whether a solution worked for them or additional information on causes etc.

Many threads are just questions that they end up doing later. Like the ESD bag question. If someone says tinfoil works as ESD shielding and gives a legit sounding reason, OP might mark it solved. But if someone else thinks otherwise, they should be able to chime in.

And if you don't want any more answers, unfollow the thread.

There's a reason why users are not allowed to remove posts, remove topics, or lock threads.

You can just unfollow the topic so you don't get any more notifications. Kind of defeats the point of a forum for open discussion by closing off a thread once the OP got what they wanted.

Smartass answer: Why would ANYONE ever think tinfoil would be ESD Shielding?

Actual answer: 1. Im the idiot that would use tinfoil as ESD Shielding, 2. maybe another button beside the "solved" check so that OP can close the post.

If I understood correctly, it wouldn't be auto-lock, so this reasoning doesn't apply in full.

Main reason why it isn't allowed and won't be, is trolling/harassing/such. Or the fact that it would be used to stop conversion if OP is loosing argument.
