Hi,

So I ordered OnePlus 3t a few days ago and it hasn't arrived yet. However, I've just read the news about the release of OnePlus 5... I am really torn now between keeping the 3t or going through the hassle of returning it and getting the 5 once it comes out. What would you do? Do you think it's worth waiting?

5 is worth is IMO if you can live with the phone you already have for 1-2 more months.

Waterproof

Better screen

Longer software support

better CPU

etc.

The 5s specs are just rumoured currently.

So nobody knows what it will have. The screen snaps could easily have been faked, one of them says it has 5 batteries..

Plus I really think if the rumoured specs are true that they'll struggle to keep it under $500.

Drive away their core customer base who want budget prices

I am using 3t since January and I must say that's my best phone so far ;)

CPU would be better thats for sure / Camera ? / Battery ? / System ? / Display ppably the same cuz its perfect already ;D

No idea, if you wan to buy a phone right now I would take 3t, if you can wait at least 1-2 months after release to check opinions you can wait.

Hope I helped and sry for my english xD

I'd return it and see what's on offer with their next phone. Keep in mind nothing you see now is official, and leaks are usually pretty inaccurate until much closer to the release. "News" outlets just use them for hits.

You can expect:

  • Better SoC
  • Same size screen
  • Middle of the road camera

I think it's kind of stupid to think that they'd have kept prices low forever. The whole point of having a couple of generations of "no profit" devices was to build that exact customer base, and then gradually up the price once the brand had gained traction. Anyone who thought they weren't out to profit is a complete idiot.

yeah but once you go iver a certain price threshold youre into branded territory, where warranties and quility stand high! ive not been on the oneplus forums since i ditched my one a year after it came out, but oneplus werent exactly known for good customer service... if i was paying $500 for a phone which had questionable support vs a $600 phone that came from a reputable company with actual stores.. id rather pay the extra!

then again im a samsung slag... i dont care how much they cost.. ill still upgrade yearly!

Honestly they're not much better from the big companies. They both take a while, they both refuse warranties for stupid reasons. The only real advantage you have is that there are physical stores, and honestly it's pretty rare that they'll repair anything there so they'll get you to send it to a service center anyway. For the longest time Samsung wasn't known for the best service either...companies grow. You can't expect a brand new company to get it right right off the bat.

Sure, they'll approach the upper prices, but in a lot of was they're offering just as if not a more compelling product.
