why does the 1050ti have 4 gigs of ram while the 1060 has 3?

They decided to make a low VRAM version of the 1060, they didn't for the 1050 Ti. So the 1060 has 6 GB or 3 GB options, the 1050 Ti has 4 GB but no 2 GB option.

The 3GB 1060 vs 6GB 1060 is basically the same as the 4GB 1050 Ti vs 2GB 1050, right ?

Just imagine that the 1060 6GB is the 1060 Ti. Thats how I explain it to my friends. It has higher clock speeds, more cores, and more Vram. Similar to what the 1050 Ti is to the 1050.

i think what youre missing is the date of release. When the new 10 series came out the 3GB was the cheapest of the first products.

The real 1060 has 6 Gb.

Also, 1060 has a 192-bit bus making the only options 3, 6, 9GB etc. The 1050(Ti) has a 128-but bus making the only options 2 or 4GB (with 512MB or 1GB chips).
