100mhz worth it

hey, so i thought my 1600 was stable at 4ghz at 1.41/1,44 [ it flickers between] as it passed a aida 64 cpu stress test for several hours and r15 5 times in a row and iv been gaming on it for weeks now with no problems, edited my first video today and when it was being rendered my pc monitors jsut went black fans and everything were still spinning but nothing on screen so i had to hard shutdown and reboot, no errors came up it just booted right up with the same oc, when i dropped the cpu to 3.9 it worked fine for the rendering in lighjtworks

so question is do i push the llc to lv 5 on my board to keep the voltage at 1.439 or do i drop the mulitplier to 3.9 ?

i wont be rendering that much i dont think maby a few times a week.

do you think there is much gaming performance to be lost at 3.9 vs 4 ghz ?

what would you do ?

switch oc for rendering to 3.9 and 4 for gaming or

run only at 3.9ghz ?

Not much differnce, you will hardly notice it (Above 1.4v is pretty high anyway, especially for Ryzen).

i crash at 4 ghz at 1.4  iv not tried 3.9 on a lower voltage to be honest it could be worth a shot

Did it happen more than once at 4.0? What I mean is, can you say that it systematically fails at 4.0, and systematically works at 3.9?

The one-core turbo is. The base clock for all 8 cores is 3.6GHz. You are running 8 cores at 4.0GHz (or 3.9GHz).

Testin 3.9 at 1.39v now with Aida 64

so far so good

what do you think would be a good voltage for that speed

i doubt il get as low as you

You gotta bring it down real slowly. I know guys who tweak voltage like .015 voltz at a time.

How long to validate stability before I bring it down ?

This is part of your problem.  AIDA64 is not the best load to determine stability, especially if you are working with videos now.

RealBench would be a far better stress test for determining stability for these types of loads.  Be prepared for the fact that you will have to raise voltage a bit in order to pass any extended testing with RealBench.  AIDA64 usually only requires a little additional voltage over that require to load Windows, which should tell you something.

RealBench also loads your GPUs at the same time.  You know, typical loads you might experience with rendering.  :D

The best thing to do is to test your stability with several different tests and not just one.
