Assuming you're replying to me (please quote people lol), all you've proved is that some mustard is calorie free, and others are not.

Of course, that worries me greatly. What is inside that mustard to make it calorie free, and still be a thick, viscous sauce? Scary.

For some reason, the powers that be set calories applicable to only fats (used for metabolism of minerals, amines), proteins (which don't really provide energy for the body), and sugars (carbs and staches). They don't have figures for things like acids, bases, and fibers. Most of the time the figures are also based on a gross (wide, not disgusting) approximation rather than accurate for the individual batch.

I'm going to assume that there is a lot of salts (Na, K, Cl, HCO3, etc.), acids, and some non-food thickener that is likely glycol-based. If I remember vet school correctly, you only have to report your lowest recorded calorie, i.e. no significant figures after the first.

Tomato sauce, Ketchup and BBQ Sauce are very very very different things. It's cool that you prefer that of course - I indeed don't even like ketchup, but I quite enjoy both BBQ Sauce and Tomato/Pasta/Spaghetti Sauce.

Actually, in Australia, tomato sauce IS ketchup.

I have a weird thing I do. Mcdonalds burgers dipped in their sweet and sour sauce. Sounds disgusting, but my sister convinced me to try and it and now I'm addicted.

Wishing leads to ambition and ambition leads to motivation and motivation leads to me building an illegal rocket ship in my backyard.

Well... you're wrong, lol.

They might have a somewhat similar appearance, but the consistency and more importantly, the taste and smell, are extremely different.

What do you call "Pasta Sauce", then? You know, what you'd put on, say spaghetti?

Hang on, you're telling me what tomato sauce is called in Australia?

cute.

Pasta sauce is called pasta sauce or if you want to be specific bolognese.

-snip-

You misunderstand me, I'm not telling you what Australians call Tomato Sauce - I'm telling you that Australia is wrong :P

Also, Bolognese is a very specific kind of pasta sauce:

http://www.dictionary.com/browse/bolognese

Quote

Italian Cookery. served with a cream sauce typically containing prosciutto, ground beef, and cheese.

Basically, pasta sauce w/ ground beef in it.

Calling ketchup "Tomato sauce" is just... odd, and at odds with how "Tomato Sauce" is used globally. Doing some Googling, this is apparently a British (And former British Colonies) thing - UK, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, etc. Not sure how Canada escaped that one, but I'm glad none-the-less :D

Anyway, I digress. Australia, you be you ;)

Well, considering that it's a Commonwealth thing, Australia is not exactly alone now, is it? It's just that countries outside the Commonwealth are wrong (except Canada, because you guys are just Americans with maple syrup).

Damn right! Otherwise we'll end up unaffordable healthcare, primary school kids carrying guns and an oversized mouth wearing a ginger wig as the nation's leader.
