Funny Story Time

Thought I'd share this.

 

So prom is coming up. I've been with this girl for roughly a month, we've been on a date or two, so I decide I'll ask her to prom! Great idea. I actually asked on here what way I should ask her, and you all said to just 'man up and ask'. Which I had no problem doing. Of course she said yes, but she was like 'you have to at least do something'. I came back on here and told you guys.... smh

 

Anyway, I had this brilliant idea, since my car is old and has those 'pop up' headlights (look at my profile picture), I would make it say 'PROM?' when I hit the switch and they shoot up! So yesterday I spent a few hours making it all, which involved making a cardboard template in the shape of my headlights, then carving out the lettering so that it spells it across the two headlights. Then I spray painted it nice and black, used black duct tape to hold it on and seal it (so light only shines through the lettering) and even used blue masking tape to diffuse the light, giving it a cool blue lettering that actually looked pretty dope. I went the next day, got some flowers, and did the whole thing (we got off late from work so it was dark and you could see it very well). She loved it!

 

I then decided, eh, why the hell not drive home with it on, I could still kind of see. She advised me not to (and let me tell you, I should listen to her more). I just turned my high beams on and it made it kind of bright enough. As I was on the way home, I make a left turn to approach a stop light. And right in front of me....

Right in front of me, with my blue headlights that dimly light the road and his cruiser that says 'PROM?'. The light turns green right as I come to a stop behind him, and pulls off, but very.... slowly.... I had a feeling that I was literally about to be pulled over, so I noped the fuck out of that lane and hopped into the left turn lane to go the other way. I'm looking in my mirror to see if he's turning around to catch up to me, but all seems good. I quickly pull over, take it off, and then proceed to make a very long detour home since I made that left turn from earlier. On the way I see tons of cops, whether they were looking for someone or just out catching speeders, I don't know. But I was scared  I just stuck to the speed limit all the way home.

 

But, I now have a prom date.

The reason we said to just man up and ask her is because a lot of girls won't like such an extravagant thing too early in the relationship - it can be a warning sign to them that you're too clingy or serious "too soon".

 

But since yours liked it, well that's great!

 

As for the headlights. WTF were you thinking? At best, that was extremely dangerous, not only for yourself due to the reduced visibility, but to other drivers, due to it being distracting. Glad you didn't get pulled over, but next time, listen to the damn girl and don't do something dangerous when it comes to driving.

Keep in mind I work a full time job with overtime and go to school for five hours every day. This was actually blind luck that I managed to work it into my schedule.
