X62 Kraken on Asus Crosshair VI Hero

Hello my friends, my friend want me to build him a gaming pc with the budget of 2,000 USD. I have everything set and am curious if the X62 Kraken with its AM3+ Mounting hardware will fit onto this AM4 Hero MOBO. Ive read on amazon on their FAQ's that this board comes with the AM3+ mounting holes, so no biggy right? Also the NZXT Website says this AIO is compatible with all AM4 Mobo's. Now is this true? Because ive seen people freaking out about AM4 brackets and how to order them. Or will I scrape by with an old AM3 backplate and call it a day? Thanks in advance! You actually need AM4 mounting hardware from NZXT separately.  This made a lot of people angry because NZXT took a long time to send out mounting brackets

you should be totally fine with an AM3 bracket on that specific motherboard.

however, I'd recommend you get a 1700 (or 1600(X) if you don't really need the extra cores) and put the extra money into a 1080 or 1080Ti

you could also get your OS on kinguin for less.

Also, the 1800x is pointless when the 1700 can be overclocked to around the same for $100+ less. I have no idea why people buy the 1800x unless it's for a microcenter combo

Not for the specific board OP has.

his board has both AM3 and AM4 mounting holes.

My bad. That's an interesting choice by Asus. It makes it a lot easier for AM3 users to transfer

I know I can get the OS for cheaper, Its just to show my friend where his money is going. How stable is the 1700x under a mild overclock? Maybe 4.0Ghz. I looked up answers about this while posting this and answered my own question.

I'm also building it to his taste, hense the NZXT everywhere and the RGB Tridentz... Ugh. Not what I would go with but hey, its his money.

Something like this would be good:

I went with a 1600X because unless your friend is content creating/heavy editing, he doesn't need 8 cores.

if he is content creating, you can upgrade to a 1700 and stay in budget. the 1700 OCs to almost as good as an 1800X. most can hold solid at 4Ghz with a solid cooler. but even 3.9 or 3.8 ain't bad.

alternatively, you could go down to a 1600 (which can again, OC to basically 1600X levels of performance) and maybe try to squeeze in a 1080Ti for TONS of gaming performance, but only get a 1080Ti if you're gaming in at least 1440p.

I appreciate the effort, but hes going to be rendering and editing video and audio with me in tandem for our youtube channel. All components were chosen to purely look nice and perform badass. I went with the 1700x and I will put a decent OC onto it. He lives 3 states away, so I will actually disassemble the rig partially and ship it to him.
