Do you have any mbd recommendations? maybe ROG

If you already have bought the items, dont bother returning them. You will still have a great experience regardless.

The 1800X is a waste of money. The R7 1700 is the best value in the 8 core lineup.

So you would prefer an AMD build over an Intel?

Assuming you can make use of the extra cpu cores then yeah I would go for a Ryzen build.

Basically if your above Tier 3 your golden, beneath it you run a greater risk. PSU's are incredibly vital and can take systems with them if they fail. Basically try to not cheap out on it. But anything Tier 1,2,3 will be fine for gaming systems, Tier 4 if it's not being used too often.

i cancelled the order for Rosewill Capstone G Series and got the  EVGA 220-G2-0850-RX 850W. Is that considered Tier 1?

Yep, idk how well refurbished PSU's hold up, but that model is considered a Tier 1.

@STRMfrmXMN how good are Refurbished PSU's, like a refurbished EVGA G2?

I am trying to build a gaming pc and to occasionally use for cinema 4d video rendering. My budget was around $3000. Is this build good, or do you recommend something else? Thank you

-ASUS ROG Maximus IX Formula LGA1151 M.2 Z270 ATX Motherboard

-Intel Core I7-7700K CPU

-64GB G.Skill Trident Z 3400MHZ RAM

- 2x 512GB Samsung 960 Pro SSD M.2

-2TB Toshiba P300 HDD

-Asus Geforce GTX 1080 Ti ROG GPU

-Deepcool Genome ROG Certified Edition PC Case with Integrated 360mm Liquid Cooling System and Aura RGB Lighting System.

-850W EVGA SLI READY PLUS GOLD Power Supply Unit

Beyond the existing ryzen comments. Make sure your psu is either a G2 or G3 for EVGA. Also, you'd be better off getting a 1tb m.2 Samsung pro ssd rather than using 2 separate slots. There's really no need.

EVGA refurbs them in-house so they should be 100% functional, go for it if it's cheaper or maybe from somewhere like EVGA B-stock.

Make sure your board is z270 or x99, otherwise your wasting money w/ a k cpu and liquid cooling.

Ryzen would help for the rendering, but has not as good gaming performance as Intel (unless this was changed recently)

X99 isn't compatible with LGA1151 CPUs though?

As for Ryzen vs Intel in gaming, the only time you're going to notice a difference between a 1700 and 6700k/7700k is at 1080p144Hz with a GTX 1070/1080. However, with a 1080Ti, it's not even going to be noticeable.

im sorry not EVGA Just checked my order. I ordered this one: Rosewill Capstone G Series 850W Modular Power Supply, 80 PLUS Gold Certified, Single +12V Rail, SLI & Crossfire Ready - Capstone-G850

Baaaad PSU.

It's rated as Tier 2 according to this Tier List. @STRMfrmXMN can explain more on why. But the PSU will be fine.

No, it's Tier 4, not 2. Capstone and Capstone G are different. The original Capstone units were great. The newer, Capstone G units are trash.

Good, Capstone G's suck, EVGA's G2 units are stellar quality.

OP- What monitor are you using? If you're using a anything lower than 1440p, you're wasting a shit ton of money. Hell, even for 1440p 60Hz, a GTX 1070 or GTX 1080 would be plenty. Those 960 PRO's are a huge waste of money. As is 64GB RAM, even 32GB is pretty damn overkill.

When it comes to Ryzen vs. Intel, I learned something watching a bunch of Tech Deals videos on YouTube.  Just because Ryzen came out, it doesn't make Intel all of a sudden bad.  If you already have Intel, you'll still have a monster PC that will do many things.  Intel is FASTER for FPS in gaming, but Ryzen is SMOOTHER.  Ryzen is better for non-gaming applications and good enough in gaming to not be too much of a detriment.

I almost had buyer's remorse when I did my i7-7700K build, and just about sent it back, but it's been doing very well for me.  I can game very fast, and I can also do my video editing without any issues (I mainly do 1080p video rendering), so if you already have the 7700K, then you may not need to change a thing.  At this point, it depends on if you really need the extra cores.

Midnight Rig - CPU: i7-7700K / Cooler: Corsair h100i V2 / Motherboard: AsRock Z270 Taichi / RAM: G.Skill TridentZ 3200Mhz / GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 FTW2 / SSD: Crucial MX300 525GB / HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm / PSU: EVGA Supernova B2 750W

I ordered the EVGA G2 850W PSU Not the Capstone. I def use a 4K monitor higher than 1440p. As for the 64GB. I use tons of apps at once, especially VMachines for testing. I know i might of overkilled it, but id rather get something overkilled than regretting it in the future. Thank you for the feedback and help!!
