Why didn't you do this before Sapphire? (Edited to include gamers Nexus teardown)

ivan134

Have you seen huge the Nitro 580 is? Why didn't Sapphire do this in the 1st place? The Nitro 480 had a really good PCB, but was held back by that garbage baby heatsink. This is probably the best Polaris card right now.

Because now you'll replace your 480 with a 580. That's why.

The only upgrade form here is Vega. Won't happen anytime soon though because I'm moving.

I want Vega to be awesome. I'm already getting a 1700 so a all AMD update would be fun.

So if rebranding Polaris gets AMD the money to get Vega to market, awesome.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Indeed I always have had the feeling Sapphire and XFX are the ones to go when talking about Radeon.

While I am aiming at Volta, my brother also expects Vega to be worthy enough to make a full red build on the 1800x system we have.

I already have the power I need on the monitor, I'm hoping Vega can make it worth the upgrade for VR. My 980ti can feed my Vive for now, but it would be nice to be able to use supersampling.

Same the Titan XM is sufficient for the 2560x1080 at 80hz I'm rocking right now but I desire the full experience at ultra wide 1440p with a single GPU setup thus why I gotta still wait for Volta as I feel the 1080ti isn't there yet ^^

because amd said "look guys just gimp these rx480 on power limit and cooling, because we really cba making a full range of new cards for next year but we need to have some kind of performance boost."

XFX GTR black edition was like "screw you amd... 1450mhz for dayz"

the moral of the story is, buy a card with a decent cooler+ overclock it and you have next years card.

The truth has been spoken.

My Vapor X 290 matched and even beat my 390.

I am just hoping powercolor didnt cheap out on their component again..

Also the fan? is it still secured by a screw? wth sapphire..

To be fair, they fixed with a 2nd revision. A better VRM is one of the selling points on the PR slides for their 580.

Yes, but sapphire is the only one. MSI and Asus didn't hold it back either. I think they just overestimated the original cooler.
