Then you need to create a windows 10 installer DVD or USB Flash drive. Download the Windows 10 creation tool from Microsoft, choose which media you want to install windows from (i highly recommend a USB 2.0 flash drive) and let it do it's thing.

you will need a valid Windows 10 key however. these range in price from 20 to 80-ish all the way to $200 for retail versions.

Kinguin has the cheap keys.

i can use my windows 8 key rioght ?

not likely, but you can certainly try it. you can install and carry on like you normally would without a key, but there will be some limited functionality until a valid key is entered.

if you had win10 before using that win 8.1 key to upgrade, and you used a Microsoft account to login it will remember who you are and auto activate. keys can now be tied to accounts making it easier to reinstall windows.

Windows 10 has blurred that line. If the key is associated with your account, you can switch hardware and activate via a simple call.

Shenanigans.

I tried that between my Z170 board and the X370 board and the key would not activate. the difference is in the edition. if it's OEM, it cannot change MB. If it's Retail, it moves with the user (and thereby between hardware).

Update your BIOS and I think that you can enable cores/modules in the CPU menu (which is in the advanced tab)

It requires power cycle because it needs to reboot to apply the settings....

Also you actively have another thread for this issue?

Go into BIOS and restore settings to default and reboot. It should override risen master's configs if it is stuck at 4 core for some reason...

Also, it looks like you did an update to windows 10 instead of a clean install? Ryzen won't work correctly if its been brought over from an intel build.

it might but I don't think a clean clean install is necessary, a refresh is enough. I had an issue when I was on Windows 8.1 where for whatever reason my system showed only 1 core for my i3. BIOS update was a waste of my time and Windows wasn't tinkered in msconfig or something to disable cores. Got rid of the issue when I updated to Windows 10.

System: Intel Core i3 3240 @ 3.4GHz, EVGA GTX 960 SSC 2GB ACX 2.0, 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 Kingston HyperX RAM, ASRock B75M-DGS R2.0 Motherboard, Corsair CX430 W Power Supply
