the 1060 also boosts it up compared to DX12 though, that was my point about it getting more equalized. I did express it was a very very short answer, since he is screaming all thread long he must be in a dead hurry

For most GPU's the core loses performance before VRAM becomes a concern. Take the 970, as an example, with it's 4GB (3.5GB for those who would correct me). It gets a high amount of frames where most games would use upwards of its 4GB. Taking the 960 (a weaker core), it gets much lower performance when tapping the VRAM beyond a point. 

 

Hell, the 970 SC that I'm testing right now is proving formidable on 5760x1080 in multiple games.
