What free buys can I get if I buy 580 8GB

And what should I be for the long term 3 years plus the 580 8GB or 1060 6GB

Than go for the 1060 stop asking the opinions, you can easily get free games from the money you save by going for a rx580 especially on sale.

They will both last you a long time. I'd personally go with Nvidia since I've never had an issue switching between architectures (680 x 2, 780, 750 Ti, 980, 980 TI, 1080, 970 which I'm testing now). There are very few games that I have played that used more than 4GB of VRAM and the majority of them were VR games and Witcher 3 hitting about 5GB.

Buy a 580

It's a toss up. There's 2 mayor publishers that usually favor AMD more:

 

- EA when it uses Frostbyte

- Square

 

If you frequently like games from either of them or are looking forward to games from them I'd go for the 580.

 

If this doesn't really rings a bell and you find a good deal on a good 1060 I'd go for that.

 

Chances are this differences are not that big between the cards so I'd go for the card that has a better price and better cooling solution, perhaps even considering things like better looks too.

i rather have too much than too little, having a bit of headroom is good.

the 1060 gets you more fps on DX11

the 580 gets you more fps on DX12

both give you same fps on Vulkan

to make it very very short

They trade places depending on the game
