It's hard to say. Tbh it depends alot on the motherboard and the who created the memory. Hopefully once bios updates come out it will be easier and easier to achieve the higher ram speeds

Wouldn't the 1600 be a downgrade?

That ram won't run 3200mhz (yet) - Ryzen needs Samsung B die, so either CAS 14 3200 or CAS 16 3600

Be careful with that site, I was gonna buy stuff from there, but reviews aint great

Get one of the samsung B-die kits, 3000Mhz and CAS 14.  Most compatible out of any so far.

I've just bought the same RAM kit and a Gigabyte X370 K7 from alza.co.uk as a friend of mine purchased his 1700x with no issues from them. If you have paid via paypal you should be covered.

I've no idea lol, my CPU is coming from amazon so it's on pre order and the board and memory just haven't arrived yet. If it doesn't support it yet, it will in coming days/weeks.

From an i7-4790K?

No. The R5-1600 has higher single core performance than the i7-4790k at the same clock speeds, and two extra cores to make up for the losses in clock speeds, so it is at least 70% faster than the i7 overall in most applications, and slightly faster in most if not all games than it, but slower than the i7-7700k, or 6700k.

As for the OP's questions:

The "krait gaming" motherboard from MSI is the same as the MSI X370 SLI PLUS but it looks fancier, and thats about it.

The krait gaming also costs more, so the SLI PLUS is probably a better deal.

As for ram speeds, MSI has gotten most ram speeds working up to 3200mhz DDR4 in the Ryzen 8 cores, but only on the B350 motherboards, the update for the X370 boards via bios updates is supposed to be here very very soon, you can expect it before it arrives, even with 2 day shipping.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 @3.7ghz (1.3v) Cooler: NZXT Kraken X62 GPU: Zotac Mini GTX 1060 Case: NZXT - S340 (Black/Blue) Mobo: MSI B350m mortar arctic

RAM: Team Vulcan DDR4 (2x4gb, 2666mhz) Storage: Toshiba 1tb 7200rpm HDD, PNY CS1311 Sata SSD (6gb/s) PSU: EVGA - BQ 500w 80+ Bronze semi modular

Nope it's slower in games, by quite a bit. I just switched from a 4790k @ 4.7ghz and did some tests before and after switching to a 1700 in my build log, have a look here:

Albeit It has improved with the new bios, taking the ram from 2133 to 2666 but my o/c @ 1.35v dropped to 3.8ghz - that still pushed up RotTR bench by around 4.5FPS - I haven't tested anymore as of yet as it is quite time consuming, once I get 4ghz and 3200mhz on the ram I will re-test them all

20 minutes ago, jjohnthedon1 said:

It's all supported now, just only at the base speed of 2133mhz. Mine wouldn't go above 2133 initially, I got a bios update last week which pushed it to 2666mhz but the CPU OC dropped 200mhz.

They will all get there eventually, its just a matter of if you can wait. I've also read an article where they think it could be a limitation of the memory controller as one guy had different results across 3 CPU's (1700, 1700X, 1800X) with the same board and ram

not noticeable in game, it actually feels smoother as the minimums are higher on Ryzen. If you look at my log I have ran around 6 games worth of benchmarks @ 1440P on my 1080, both before on the i7 and on the 1700 albeit with 2133mhz ram

If you're going for Ryzen and can make the stretch for sure get the 1700, but is my opinion haha.
