I just built my gaming pc this morning. My Download speed is 3 megabits per second / DSL ( don't snicker at that ) and upload is .32 megabits per second. I'm download I game that's 25 gigabytes. If my calculations is correct that'll take around 20 hours so could I leave it on overnight similar to the console rest mode

I don't really see a problem with doing that.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Do this:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Or this:

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

You're not going to harm your computer by leaving it on overnight. The main thing that can happen is if you're using a HDD the discs will wear down a lot faster if you leave it on 24/7.

That's not correct. In fact, statistically hard drives "wear down" more from turning off and turning on and going up in heat and down when powering off, compared to just running 24/7. In most hardware, fluctuations in temperature cause more problems than leaving said hardware turned on 24/7

I turn off my PC probably 3-5 times a year when I upgrade my computer or when I get some random power failure and I have hard drives in my system that are 3-5 years old and still run perfectly fine.

I have quite a few computers, and they all run 24/7. My oldest system is over 7 years old.

If you are OK with the fan noise and the electricity bill, there isn't any issue with leaving it on.

That is the funniest joke I have read all day.
