Gaming on HP 6000 PRO?

Hello everyone!

I have a small question. I just got an HP 6000 PRO(tower) from work since it is really old and 2 out of 4 RAM slots are broken and we are not going to use it anymore. They wanted to throw it away, but it has an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 processor. I thought that I will take it. I wanted to make a temporary "gaming" rig for my girlfriend, since she is gaming on her laptop right now and it is shit... Unfortunately I have to buy a new motherboard, but it's just ~15€, so no problem. Anyways, to the point. My question is, if it will be enough for light 1080p gaming when I will throw a 550ti or 650ti in there? I already have a 500GB HDD and 8GB of ram for it. Will it work together with E8400? She mainly plays League of Legends, but it's because her laptop won't run any other game we would like to play on any decent FPS :/ I'm tight on budget and if I can spend approx 100€ for the card and motherboard and have a decent performance I will go for it. So, what do you guys think?

TL;DR

Want to game on HP 6000 PRO. Thinking if this PC along with 550ti or 650ti/8GB RAM will be enough for decent 1080p gaming. Opinions?

Well, I read some more about upgrading this particular model and it turns out that to install any of the mentioned GPU's I would have to upgrade the PSU as well. Why? Because both of these cards need a 6pin power connector and the only 6pin connector that is available on this PSU is plugged to the motherboard... :/ Sadly, because this is proprietary mobo and PSU there is no option of upgrading a PSU :/ I have found something like this: 6pin to 2x6+2pin. But will it work? Can anyone tell me if it's safe to use this splitter? I would simply split the one 6pin connector from my psu and use it to power the mobo and GPU. If it's dangerous then i will have to look for a card that will let me run some games with decent settings that doesn't need any power extension. Any ideas on what card would be ok for that?

Unfortunately both, 750 and 1050 fall over my budget :/ What do you think about throwing a GeForce GT 730 in there? Would it work for my purpose?

Ehh...I have one and while its nice for 1080p for something like CS:GO. If you are to get it though always get the GDDR5 version. ALWAYS GDDR5. I cant stress it enough, the DDR3 versions are about 40% slower than the GDDR5 versions for the same price

I'd go for the 750ti if new is over budget, I'd look second-hand.

PC - NZXT H510 Elite, Ryzen 5600, 16GB DDR3200 2x8GB, EVGA 3070 FTW3 Ultra, Asus VG278HQ 165hz,

You can't use 6pin mobo connetor as PCI power connector. They just aren't compatible across. You'll end up with dead GPU, mobo or even PSU.

You're right. I made some further research and the final decision is to throw a GT 730/740(GDDR5) in there ;) No external power required for those GPU's and it will be enough(I hope) for my GF needs. Anyways, thanks for your 2 cents in this topic :)
