I want your thoughts and opinions on my stuff

I recently built my very first computer a couple of months ago. I was aiming for a budget build of more or less a $400 build. I was building this computer more for just to play with my friends and have fun in small indie games and smaller titles. I was never planning on playing AAA titles on this pc as I have just recently joined the pc master race and i'm still a noob. So I want your thoughts of if the build that I made was good or maybe I should of gone with a different route. I also want to know what would be the next things that i should upgrade for it. My friend was going to throw away a lot of computer parts so instead he gave them to me. I also paid for the full version of windows 10 and not the OEM version.

Thank you for the replies in advance!

PC specs:

CPU: I3 6300 w/ stock Intel cooler

GPU: GTX 550 ti 1gb (friend gave me this graphics card)

Motherboard: Asrock H170m Pro4

RAM: 1x8 gb 2133 ddr4

PSU: 500watt non-modular

Storage: 360gb HDD (friend game me this)

Case: Have no idea what it is. Its a mid tower. Very old too. Has a total of three fans. (friend gave me this too)

Keyboard: E-Element Mechanical Eagle Z-77 RGB

Mouse: NPET V30 RGB

Mouse pad: Steel series QcK

Monitor: It's my parents all in one computer. Hooked up my computer to it. Its a PX30 all in one if you're interested.

it's pretty sweet, but i would have bought a cheap SSD, that will be much faster than an old HDD< and much more reliable.

The first thing I'd upgrade? Probably your GPU (I'd say the RX 470 is the sweetspot for 6300) followed by storage. 360gb is a bit low if you plan on playing AAA titles in the future.

i would upgrade storage first. an old hdd is very slow and unreliable. the gpu can wait...

The i3 6300 is still a very capable gaming cpu, however it has been overshadowed in value since the Pentium G4560 launched earlier this year.

If you were looking to upgrade, I would first upgrade the GPU to something more capable like the Rx 470(+$30 MIR), or even upgrade the monitor if it isn't already 1080p. Of course, you could also upgrade the 360 GB HDD to an SSD (or a larger HDD as SSD prices are sky-high at the moment)

Looks pretty good, only thing troubling me is what psu you have :D

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

I have been stuck on whether i get a 1050 ti or a rx470 or rx 480. Also i am very aware about the storage and im planning on buying an ssd real soon they are just so expensive. The monitor is 1080p at 60hz. The power supply is a inland ILS-500R2.

At the moment, AMD GPU prices are falling through the floor, as their 500 GPU series rebrand are launching next month. You can get much better value from the RX 470 instead of the Gtx 1050ti.

id slap in a RX 470 and depending on the PSU a new PSU aswell. post some pictures or something and we might be able to tell you if its crap or not so you know if it needs replaceing or not lol

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

You can get greater than 30% performance with getting the Rx 470 over the 1050ti.

I would recommend this Rx 470

GTX 660 is basicallty the minimum for 1080p 60fps now, GPU needs an upgrade.

looked up the PSU, seems to be a 360W unit with a 500W sticker, its pretty shit and would be the first thing i upgrade to make room for the other upgrades like a new GPU

basically upgrade like this:

new PSU ~450W

RX 470

new storage

new CPU

i know the cable management is horrible but the back of the case has literally no room. Also that's the front of the case if anyone is able to recognize it.
