I can get these two cards for about the same price on craigslist where I am. Not really concerned about power because it is SOOOOO cheap here in Vancouver Canada. Which one is better?

So wait how much are you getting the card for? And what card is it?

and ya i'd go for the 480 just for the cheaper free-sync displays, and future DX12/Vulkan support, not to mention more VRAM in any case

RX 480 is going to be the faster card here.

I didnt say they dropped driver support all together

but for GAMES there is 0 performance difference

 

Hell even a RX 470 is gonna tear the 780TI a new one

That's because they maxed out the architecture  for that series of cards.

maxwell didn't get any performance boosts 6 months after launch and way before pascal

No they didn't... Hell they just gave Fermi a touch of DX12 around the end of last year (though I'm not using the drivers that add DX12 on Fermi).
