I would recommend instead of wasting a bunch of money because you think the 6950X is best, maybe research mutithreaded vs single threaded performance, and maybe consider xeons or a 7700k.

 

Again, since it looks like you didn't read the post above, if you're talking about single threaded benchmarks, the 7700k performs MUCH better than the 6950X.

If you care about multithreaded benchmarks, then a xeon will do better than a 6950X.

 

In both cases, the 6950X is NOT the best CPU.

Clearly someone "doesn't know anything about it"

The 1800X beat it in Cinebench and it is $499 instead of $1599. You could buy 3 for the price of one....

The 6950X is garbage when doing anything that isn't utliizing all 10 cores 20 threads. Most applications stop at 8 and any extra core added doesn't do a thing. Now if you are doing server related work that can actually use all those cores then you can get a Xeon that has ECC support and doesn't cost $1599. A 6700K has better single core performance. The 6950X also runs like a furnace. Trying to cool all 10 cores is a difficult task. At this point you are literally throwing money away for no justified reason. Why not some $1000 and get a TitanXP?

PS- the 7700k is even better than the 6700k

 

Here is multithreaded performance:

PS- you can now buy single xeons that are better than the two 2630 v4s that you see above ^^

If you are buying a 6950X, then just buy it already. 

 

Those CPU's are pretty hard to find used as rarely do people buy such an expensive CPU to just change their minds. And when they are for sale they aren't much cheaper than retail. Nothing else competes so no need to lower the prices.

In a way but at the same time this kind of reckless purchasing is part the blame why Intel can overprice their CPUs to the sky, which does not help the economy at all, people actually concerned for the littlest of cost-benefit should consider the 1800x right now.

You guys still dont get why I buy it, IS NOT for gaming, if I would game 24/7, I would get 7600/7700K.

 

This is for LN2 overclocking, I need the raw Power, you should all Stop be a butt hole, and move on.

You got your answer multiple times about not being able to find cheap used ones. As someone else explained, people that buy them don't decide that they don't need them and then sell them for dirt cheap. Best bet is to buy a new one and roll with it. Spend your money however you like but next time someone with more experience comes along, maybe consider that they're just trying to be helpful instead of acting like an entitled prick about things. I am curious why not buy two processors and push them as high as possible for each benchmark score? I assume you're doing it to get the highest score possible.
