Ryzen or i7-6700K?

So this post is kinda the same as one I had about 2 weeks ago. 

 

But essentially I am starting on my latest ITX build, this will be my second ITX build as I just built my latest ITX system about 8 weeks ago but am in the need for another system fairly soon unfortunately. However, I just upgraded my GPU in another system so I have an EVGA GTX 960 FTW ACX 2.0 4GB that's just sitting around, and I was very lucky and was able to buy a new i7-6700k on Amazon for $270 CAD! Which is an unreal deal! So obviously for the money it's pretty much a now brainer (I know), but my only thinking is should I try to sell it which I probably could get $350-$400 CAD for and go for the Ryzen 7 1700, or should I just stick with this i7-6700k? I am able to pre-order the Ryzen 7 1700 for $440 CAD.

So I already own the CPU, GPU, case, case fans, hard drives which I did not add to the list, and the PSU as it was on for a good deal last week. Basically, RAM, OS, m.2, and motherboard is all I need. I figure with this i7-6700k I can get good use out of it for 2-3 years for sure.

 

My conflicts with going for the Ryzen 7 1700 would be: a) I need this system up and running for the end of May, b) the possible lack of good ITX boards immediately being on the market (I'm picky about my mobo's too), and finally c) for $270 would any CPU this good ever be this cheap? Even though Ryzen is better and is cheaper, realistically could it beat the price to performance I was able to get? I'm open to all ideas and suggestions!

If its for gaming, then the 6700k has the edge. If its for streaming, video editing or anything else that can use more than 4 cores then get the 1700x

For gaming, you might just want to keep the 6700K

if you do any streaming, if you do any editing, etc. then you should get the R7

I'd get the 6700k at that price since Trudeau killed the Canadian economy.

The systems primary use will be for coding and editing. Also, I couldn't really go for the 1700x as of now, it's a bit of a budget stretch. I think I should post the i7-6700k for sale and see if I can get like $360ish for it and then go from there. If I can't sell it after a month or so then I think maybe I'm better of keeping it.

For editing, you should definitely go for the 1700, it's definitely worth.

Yeah, I have a hard time thinking of even selling it, as even now the cheapest it sells for new is $390 CAD.

Well if the reviews turn out to be good for ryzen then that would be bad for trying to sell a 6700k as the retail price might go down.
