Can you please help me to understand while comparing i3-7th gen CPU's 7101E, 7101TE, 7100T, 7100, 7350K, 7320, 7300, 7300T, 7167U, 7100U, 7100H, 7102E & 7100E,

 

which one is the 1st Priority from below?

# of Cores

# of Threads

Processor Base Frequency

Cache

 

if speed is the requirement which one to consider? Cores? Threads? Processor Base Frequency?

They are all dual core with 4 threads

 

Out of all of them 7350K will be fastest as it has highest clock speed as well as ability to overclock

Both can be fast.

 

You need to look at actual benchmarks for the CPUs you're inquiring about, and then which specific applications you'll be using it for - even then, basic benchmarks won't tell you the whole story. This is how you will get a baseline on how a piece of hardware will perform.

 

As another example, a Radeon video card could have more stream processors than a Geforce card, but that does not mean the Radeon card will perform better. Look at benchmarks and then look at even more benchmarks.

There is no such thing as 4cores 2 threads since each core is a thread, but if you add hyper threading then 1 core is 2 threads

actually i am thinking to build a PC which boots fast.. i will use this PC only for Browsing, Youtube Videos & Skype.. nothing more than this..

The more cores you have, the best it is,
The more threads you have the best it is,
The highest frequency you have the best it is,
The more cache you have, the best it is,

Priorities ? Depends on what you want...

Workstation ? more cores/threads over frequencies..

Gaming ? You want 4 cores and  high frequency, if possible 8 threads sometimes help for heavy CPU games... Having more than 4 cores can help, cannot be bad, but you prefer having higher frequency for gaming. That said a dual core with high frequency will not beat a quad core with lower frequency so... you need to understand the concept of cores/frequencies

If you were looking at a single architecture, then what you listed is the order of priority you should be looking at for best performance. Between architectures, it's pretty much a toss up.

 

Though I would like to make one caveat. Considering that Hyperthreading (which doubles the thread count) is situational and increases performance by about 10%-15% for practical workloads (not benchmarks), if you can find a 2C/2T part with at least that much more in clock speed, the performance gap should close up.

i have build around 10 PCs for frds and relatives, since last 4 Years, ranging from i3 to i7 but using only for Browsing, Youtube Videos & Skype..

 

this time i am building PC only to taste new form factor mini-STX

my preference is to minimize booting time

 

my budget is 600 US Dollars

ALL i3s are 2 cores and 4 threads, the may be differ slightly by frequency, integrated gpu, cache or TDP. None of them will make your pc unusable.

You probably will get the most performance out of the 7350k, though it is NOT the best price to performance ratio. at the price point of the 7350k you can already get an i5.

Probably best price to performance is the 7100, i wouldn't bother looking at the other t, e or whatever, they are created for specific niche thingys.

i wouldn't bother spending the extra bucks on the 7320, how much is it over the 7100? Probably not worth the price.

You need to double check your motherboard whether it supports the new 7th gen processors or not, H110 is designed for the 6th gen processors and therefore require a bios update to work with the 7th gen.

As you seem to be on a budget, I recommend saving some cash and also get a standard sata ssd like the mx300 or so instead of the 600p

(8gb would be also worth considering)

You don't need an m.2 SSD for that. It won't make a difference and you are just wasting money

I do want to make another caveat as a counter point to my last post. Though this is only a theory, I haven't found a way to test it. Hyperthreading may actually provide a performance boost in another area: context switching. Context switching (which is when the processor offloads its current task and loads a new one) is expensive. Hyperthreading can help mitigate this.

 

While in theory a faster 2C/2T part should be able to keep up with a 2C/4T part, the 2C/2T part has to switch contexts twice as a much, resulting in a performance hit.

 

I guess it depends on your expected use case and workload :P

Sry missed the part with the stx, thought it was a typo.

2.: The 600p is a good price though I'd recommend the 256GB variant

3.: Dip the 7320, it is overpriced. Get the 7100

4.: i would go with any ram kit with 8GB, doesnt matter much. Get a dual channel kit, it pays off for the integrated graphics. As the board only  supports 2133 MHz, it will fulfil your needs

Which is Fast??

Physical cores will pretty much always be faster than the same number of cores achieved through hyperthreading. Remember, hyperthreading uses unused CPU cycles to process a second thread of instructions while a second core has its own, dedicated CPU cycles.
