Hello all,

I'm transporting a few PC components to my friend in a different US state, and I will be bringing the components with me on the flight to bring to him.

I'm a little worried about static shock killing these components (RAM and a CPU) so what could I do to make a makeshift antistatic bag?

would wrapping tinfoil around the components make it worse, or better? and does it really matter?

I used a paper bag to transport my r7 260x and gtx 750, they both reported working fine.

Ok, but one case isn't enough for me to be certain.

most likely, the components will turn out fine when I reach my destination too, but I just want to be extra careful.

I used paper bag, then wrapped in bubble warp, then in packing peanuts :D

You can always buy anti static bags but they are $$$ and take a while to ship

They're cheap and ship in two days if you get them on Amazon, plus you can re-use them.

Thanks lol.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that tin foil tears really easily, and with all the sharp edges on a motherboard (especially the solder on the bottom), it's far less durable than an actual bag. I bought like 30 of them for work. I just keep reusing the same few for the past 3 years and while they've started to show a little wear (I still haven't touched most of them), that's a lot better than foil.
