You are also paying labor charges when you have any service center or tech install hardware. Do it yourself, save some money. If the keyboard costs 60 bucks, it'll cost you 60 bucks. If you are unsure how to install, some tech savvy friend may help for a 6 pack of good beer.

All of my friends don't know how to replace a keyboard, and it is unable to replace the keyboard on the ativ book 8 because it has rivets and fucking shit.

Its said that its almost unable to replace the keyboard on this laptop according to this guide.

I want to kill the guy who designed this piece of shit.

No, you're suppose to replace the entire top cover which includes the keyboard and touch pad. That person is not a professional and doesn't know what he's doing. This is the reason why it cost $150 to change it.

If it's not the entire top assembly, then the keyboard can be replaced directly from the top.

But the metal hook that holds the caps lock key is broken, and the metal hook is the part of the keyboard body, not the keys.

Nah the keys aren't on a separate keyboard like most laptops, it's a part of the body so a lot more has to be changed.

$150..... if that is USD why not just buy a Mechanical keyboard for that much money and attach it by usb when you are using it.

Guys, the caps lock key currently looks like this

It should have 4 metal squares, but it has only 3.

They probably break because you are either careless or don't know what you are doing.

I don't even know why you have to be told...

As long ad the button underneath still works, you can just glue it back on or something xD

It will feel different and might be annoying but it would still be functionnal.

Yes it is. Caps lock key needs those 4 squares to be fully attached.

Bring it to your local shop and they might be able to put it back for you. It's not broken, where it can't be fix.
