3D printing still isn't exactly mainstream, but if you can afford it, the Ultimaker 3 Extended is one badass piece of 3D printing machinery.

To be honest im not very impressed by this. For a 5000$ you can get a stratasys uprint se plus which has support material too, has very reproducable machanical properties and is way easier and better to use. Its essentially full automation since with decent maintenance it never fails. Also the software is very powerful (automatically choosing best placement and automatic support material placement). It also knows how much abs is left and warns you. Im using it since half a year now and its pretty awesome. 

 

From a business perspective it would make more sense to go with the stratasys (got rebranded by hp too) because you spent less time dealing with problems. And for businesses time is actually money.

I said this before, and I'm glad to see PVA trade secrets in the real world usage, and Luke being excited about it.  My failed undergrad research involved me looking into polyvinyl alcohol for different uses, including utensils, I ended with a new disappearing spoon trick. Nice to see that this worked out for him.  I feel like you should mess with Dennis with this.
