So I've decided that I would go the red route and pick up a 480, since my monitor has freesync and motherboard can do crossfire. I've narrowed it down to either the Sapphire 4GB Nitro+: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-Polaris-FreeSync-PCI-Express-Graphics/dp/B01IQS6QE6/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1486221070&sr=1-2&keywords=rx+480

Or the MSI Gaming x 4GB Model: https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Radeon-480-GAMING-DDR5-256BIT/dp/B01KF91GJO/ref=sr_1_12?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1486221070&sr=1-12&keywords=rx+480

I've seen mixed views on the sapphire, with it being loud but having that slight overclock edge over the MSI version, but the MSI runs cooler and is less quiet. The sapphire is slightly cheaper also.

What do you think would be the better option? Other alternatives can be taken into account aswell.

Thankies! :)

I'm a bit biased towards the sapphire card because I've owned some of their stuff in the past and it's been wonderful

however

go with whichever card looks more appealing to you visually

there's very little performance difference

I've had good experiences with my MSI cooler on my GTX 970, it's just a very specific type of look that not everyone is interested in.

Also if you're considering going Crossfire/keeping your GPU for a while maybe consider an 8GB model? They're not much more expensive.

If I had to choose out of those two I would have to go with the MSI Gaming X. I have a GTX 1070 Gaming X and it very quite, very cool for a dual fan design and the Military Grade power delivery components do help when doing heavy overclocking.

yup 8 gb model is a must if considering crossfire...because you are planning to keep the card much longer. the vram requirement is already high no telling what willl happen in the future.

He said he wants a red and black build. MSI card is red and nitro 480 is RGB.
