Onkyo releases metal headphones with "super conductive" cables

Mysticode

These new headphones from Onkyo look really slick, would pair up with the HTC One's milled metal look really well!

I'd like to test them myself, to see if the special "super conductive" copper cabling really makes any descernible difference in sound quality.

It wasn't made by HTC. He was just saying the metal look of it would pair well with the HTC One

My mistake, I had originally wrote it was made by HTC. I ninja edited the post probably while felixbearpig was typing a reply.

I've only known Onkyo to make audio/video receivers, and they are typically extremely reliable and high end. I really want to give these headphones a go one day... if they ever release in Canada :|

The headphone itself looks alike to the Dr.Dr Beats Pro edition.

I wonder if the copper cables are comfortable to use, considering they will probably be less flexible and heavier.

Aren't all audio cables made with copper? These are just "higher end" copper, and "super conductive". We need an audiophile in here to edumacate us!

I can assure you, you could get something that sounds just as good as these for $40-50. I honestly don't get why everyone on this forum hates Beats, but then likes things like this. They are the same thing as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, but they "look" thicker and heavier. I might be wrong, it's just want they "look" like to me, I haven't had the chance to see it and verify it.

edit: maybe its just the picture, looking at more closely I'm not really sure now.

The big thing is if these LOOK good, and SOUND really good (Onkyo is no slouch in good sounding products), then they are worth a high cost.

The problem with BEATS is that they LOOK "flashy" (a good look is honestly in the eye of the beholder), and SOUND "decent", but then demand a huge cost because they are over marketed by "rap music producers who work in studios all the time" and Monster a company known to prey on ignorant buyers with marketing mumbo jumbo just because they can.

I don't care how good a pair of stereo headphones sounds/looks, it never justifies more than $100 IMO. And that's pushing it.

All the high end/audiophile headphone cables are "Oxygen-free copper"...It's just marketing talk. After all, this is targeted to an audience that wear these for fashion, alongside with their phones. You won't get as much details/clarity from this tier of headphones.

Yeah its partially marketing. I'm sure they use high qualitly cables. But they are not "super conducting".. Can you imagine a headphone frozen to around absolute zero tempatures xD

Hey that might find a market for researchers working in Antarctica :D
