How much space is needed for htpc?

newgeneral10

Hello,

I was looking at building a nas and an htpc to compliment my gaming pc.  I have not built my nas yet, but I was planning on having 6 1TB hard drives in raidz1 or raidz2.  My question is, will I be fine with getting a 128 gb ssd for my htpc.  I don't think I will need more than that since all it will do is run Ubuntu, Kodi (back end will be emby plugin from nas) and steam (possibly streaming from my main rig).  Here are the other potential specs for the htpc.

CPU: i3 6100 (3.7 GHz dual core)

MOBO: ASROCK H110m-ITX/ac

MEM: 1 8Gb stick of Corsair DDR4-2133

GPU: GTX 1050

Case: CoolerMaster elite 130

PSU: SeaSonic 520W 80+ Bronze Fully Modular (I know that's overkill, I'll probably go with a different one.)

SSD: ADATA SU800 128 gb

With an LG optical drive and small bluetooth dongle so I can use PS4 controllers (through Ds4).

I have built a couple computers but this will be my first HTPC so I will appreciate any advice I can get!

if it's just streaming content you should be fine. try the node 202 by fractal, it's a console sized case with a built in 450w psu

idk

I use/prefer to build HTPCs with 240-500GB M.2 SSDs. This way the drive is large enough to be comfortable while not needing a case upgrade to fit more drives.

The only problem with that case is that it doesn't have a spot for a cd drive.  If I decide I don't need a cd drive then I'll definitely go for that case.  And I had no idea it had a psu in it, that's awesome

The motherboard you have should have BT already in it.

Nice Catch!  It totally does but I completely missed it! (probably because pcpartpicker never mentions bluetooth on anything).  Thank you so much!

that does not necessarily mean the built in BT is compatible with your DS4 controller ... i heard the DS3 and 4 are quite picky about BT adapters

If it doesn't work, then i could always buy the bluetooth adapter i was going to buy anyway.  No harm done
