Well seems like Der8auer made new deliding tool for much lower price.

Previous one was like 70€, this new one is only 30€.

I guess he made that move because Rockit Cool 88, that made something like this for 30$.

Which deliding tool would you guys use? That new one from der8auer or Rockit88?

Caseking.de is selling it for 29,90€: https://www.caseking.de/der8auer-delid-die-mate-2-fsd8-019.html

I will probbably order it, because Rockit88 is shipping from US, so I would have to pay import taxes and in the end it would cost me more.

But then again, shipping cost from caseking is like half the price of this product, so I will have to pay almost 50€ for it :(

well, I stuck my 4790k in a vice and it was easy as pie.  That being said, when I move to the newer, thinner cpu's I'll probably pick up a Rockit being in the US.

Maybe try OCUK? Maybe their shipping is a little cheaper :P

Yeah I was also thinking to use razer method on my i7 4790k, because something is terrible wrong with it. But I saw way too many failed delidings, so I just want to be sure that I don't screw up something. I just don't fell confident cutting in my 350€ worth CPU, knowing that I can dammage it.

And what were results of your i7 4790k?

Right now I have same CPU and when I put it under 1,3V and 4,7GHz, temps go to 90°C in aida65 with cpu + cache + FPU. If I stress test only with FPU, it will overheat to 100°C and turn off my PC. And that's on water cooling, so I realy need to delid my CPU xD

I guess if you're super nervous or have parkinson's then you're in for a bad time.

But then again i delidded a 3570K which wasn't really up to much at the time.

I can run IBT on high at 5.0GHz 1.43v and not go over 70°c.  That is also naked mount though so no IHS at all.  I need to get rid of the Phobya LM i've been using and switch to CLU or Conductonaut.  The Phobya has been drying out every few months and causing my temps to go back to almost pre-delidded temps.  It seems most CLU/conductonaut users aren't experiencing this

That's interesting.

Guess I will have to be carefull what I put between my CPU die and IHS once I delid it. I don't want to delid my CPU every few months xD

5GHz seems realy good OC to me.

I know my chip can handle 4,7GHz at 1,3V just fine, so once I delid it, and if temps will be fine I might go to 1,35V for 4,8GHz. Don't realy need more than that.

I can only hope not to kill my CPU during deliding.

I believe the Delid-Die-Mate 2 lacks the option for Haswell (HW) and Devil's Canyon (DC).  The current Delid-Die-Mate has two sides on the lower block.  One side is for HW and DC and the other side is for Skylake (S).  The Skylake side works perfectly for Kaby Lake as well.  The only thing the original Delid-Die-Mate lacks is the ability to reseal the IHS for Kaby Lake if you chose to do so.  It will reseal HW, DC and S.

You said that it lacks the option for HW and DC, but in next sentence you said that one side is for both HW and DC.

So you can still delid HW and DC if I'm not mistaken.

There are two sides to the original Delid-Die-Mate each with different cutouts for the CPU PCB to fit into so as to not damage the bottom of the chip.  I do not see different sized cutouts on the new Delid-Die-Mate 2 or am I blind?  Or are you blind?  xD

Nevermind.  I'm blind.  haha

These are the supported chips according to the article you linked.  I just don't see how all the same CPUs share one cutout size?

Ah okay I get it now what were you trying to say. Is there such a big difference is CPU size?

When I watched his video, it seems like it's universal deliding tool for almost all Intel CPUs.

And if he adverties that it works for "Ivy Bridge, Haswell, Devil's Canyon, Broadwell, Skylake and Kaby Lake Socket", I'm pretty sure there shouldn't be any problems.

But I guess you are worried about how tight that PCB sits in this tool?

Haha okay.

I'm also not sure how exactly does that work, but der8auer is well known so I think he made sure it's okay to use for all those differend CPUs.

I'm sure it is a great and quality tool just like his first one, which is very high quality.  He makes no mention of different CPUs in his actual video so I hope guru3d didn't make assumptions as far as compatibility with more CPUs than Kaby Lake.  That or there's a possibility that you will have to order a Delid-Die-Mate 2 specific to your CPU.  Time will tell.
