Weird 3480x2160 Option

mackaledy

Hi,

Why does my old 1080p TV has an option to 3480x2160? It must have came with some windows/geforce driver update but why isnt it totally useless for me?

Thanks in advance

NVIDIA DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution) it is enabled by default when it thinks it can handle 4k.... and it works like an anti aliasing on display that has lower resolution than that. Yes, it is useless in my opinion. You will just get way less FPS.

I once saw a video about rendering to 8k and then downscaling to 1080 but i can't find it, so heres one about cameras which says something similar.

basically more pixels = more information = sharper image.
