how do i overclock on linux??

I have a computer that i built running linux mint but i can figure out how to overclock in the nvidia x server application on it. When i go to thermal settings there is no option to change the clock speed or anything like that. What should i do?

You can overclock through the BIOS. These settings should carry over to all OS.

Google coolbits. You need to set the value to 1 or 3 or something. This will enable the correct tab in xserver.

Oh? Please do explain how to overclock a discrete Nvidia GPU from your BIOS. I'm dying to learn how this is done.

Then it would only be overclocked while Windows (and the OC software) was running.

I didn't realize that.  Whenever I overclock my CPU, it automatically changes the values in my BIOS too.

He probably meant BIOS flashing.
