2x GTX 1080 for £600? Good deal?

I managed to purchase 2x GTX 1080 Gigabyte G1 versions, was it a good purchase for £600? They're ex display GPU's and are advertised as new. I made a thread about waiting for 1080 TI before, but I think £600 for 2x 1080's is a very decent deal. Thoughts?

 

I was bored and I decided to check Amazon prices for 1080's and I found "used" for £300 so I was interested to see what's up. Then I wanted to buy just one since I thought they have one, but they actually have 2 so I bought 2 right away.

If it's a scam, Amazon will protect the buyers so obviously not afraid to buy.

I don't think it's a scam though, seller is a business company with 4.8/5 ratings and he's a member on Amazon since 2008 so I think I'm safe.

I just had a look on Amazon UK and found a different 1080 for £345 used, apparently like new, never used, etc. Seller store has good rep. One comment in the used field rang alarm bells though. It said to contact some e-mail address if you wanted to buy... was that in the used item description?

Ultra funny business though, I called the company by finding them on Google. They said their Amazon was hijacked. I instantly went on live chat with Amazon and I told them what I know. Then they said that the graphic cards are in the last stage before they're shipped. However, if the seller is indeed a scammer and I will not receive my items, I will be granted a refund. So I'm not worried, I can wait a little bit to see if it's indeed a scam.

 

Worth a shot, and if I indeed get them both for £600 then I'll be happy.

They said their Amazon was hacked (heard that one before lol.. someone's gonna get disciplined for making a typo on the price :') ) but did they say whether they'd still send the cards to you?

 

If it all comes through... then you have an awesome deal.

I keep seeing deals like this and I honestly think it's scammers hacking good sellers accounts. No one in their right mind would sell a 1080 for £300 right now, I got mine for £579 3 months ago and its GONE UP to £619. Be very careful

As a rule of thumb, 1070 is is £400 and 1080 is £600

If you don't care about brand or styling the lowest cost ones are maybe 10% below that, but it is the right ball park. Like always, if it sounds too good, worth doing more checking.

It's a scam, I'm afraid. I've seen quite a lot of this on Amazon recently, at least for GPUs. In fact, people have even posted here about the 'bargains' they've discovered.

 

If I were you, I wouldn't treat handing over £600 for fresh air so casually, by the way. If Amazon were for some reason to deny your refund request, you would find yourself in a difficult position.

It wasn't shipped yet, and the green bar on Amazon is progressing. It's a scam, but it was so close... Almost got it. 

 

I contacted Amazon and I should be getting a refunder very soon.

 

I though it's worth a shot though. You never know. New ones cost £530 each so... ?

 

Gotta patiently wait for 1080 TI.

As a seller on Amazon, tons of people's accounts have been hacked. The most notorious ones are the people that hack accounts, then list a bunch of items using bots and say in the description to contact them outside of Amazon. I'm guessing they're trying to get you to pay in a way that offers no protection and then run off with your money.

Nah dude, there are specific policies in place. If he didn't get the item, he will be refunded. It's only a matter of when, not if.

Yep, I will be refunded fully.

 

Looks like I will have to pay £1060 for 1080 SLI.

 

I looked at performance Titan X vs 1080 SLI and SLI wins every time (and I have no problem with SLI and never had just FYI before there's any argument on how badly SLI sucks) and the performance of SLI is obviously better, and 1080 TI is going to be equal to Titan X therefore I don't know, I might just buy it from 100% decent place.

I just got really lucky and snagged 3 open box 1080 classys from a local microcenter. 1 was $550 after tax and the other 2 are $600.
