Thinking about a new rig. Give me your opinion!

Hey, This is what I've been thinking for now. https://www.mindfactory.de/shopping_cart.php/basket_action/load_basket_extern/id/a6f9e3220232724a37d6ce537d100bdd5fe102509924f2a21b9

Asus Z87-Pro

Intel Core i7 4770K

be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2

8GB Corsair Vengeance LP Black DDR3-1600

2048MB Asus GeForce GTX 770 DirectCU II OC

256GB Samsung 840 Pro

3000GB WD Green

Asus Xonar Essence STX

Corsair AX760

Fractal Design Arc XL + one be quiet! fan

I have plans that I could then upgrade the rig a bit later with another GTX 770 when the prices will drop a bit more but I'm not 100% sure if the PSU will be sufficient enough for it. 760W is enough? Also, I wouldn't want to spend much of my money on the rig later on so I'm just wondering whether getting two 770s would be a good way to make sure it's gonna run the games that come in the future on quite high settings. Currently I'm playing on a 1080p monitor and probably will for quite some time. How will the driver support be for two 770s on SLI for games let's say like in 2-3 years when they have released 800, 900 ... models? Would the 2GB memory bottleneck the 770s later in the future games? I guess getting a 780 could be an option too but right now I'm not sure how I'm not exactly sure what I should do with the graphics card. I'd just want it/them work well in the future without having to spend much on it later. . I'm not that much into AMD graphics cards either.

So what do you guys think about my plans overall and what's your opinion on choosing the graphics card so that it wouldn't cost too much and would be "future proof" for quite a long time. I think the biggest question I have is that how will the cards in SLI scale in the future games when the cards get older. If they won't scale that well in the future I might consider just getting one GTX 780. And yea, I plan on overclocking everything  :).

That PSU will be fine for two 770,s

the cards always get driver updates so don't worry about that and SLI will still be in new games in a few years. But

It might be worth putting off the build until you can afford one 780

Might consider dropping the soundcard... there is really no need for today's motherboards imho

Drop the WD Green, get a 2TB Barracuda, slice that SSD in 1/2, get an i5 and get a single GTX 780. The price drops have done well.

if you only game, you dont need the 4770K, i would buy a 4670K, cut the SSD in half, drop the soundcard and you'll have enough money for a 780

yes very much so.... two cards is great if the game(s) you are playing support SLI but if they dont. your other card is just almost wasted.

Always best to get 1 good card than two meh cards.

Yes. Always go for a single higher end card than two lower end cards. Even if the lower end ones perform better (which they will) they don't have the VRAM, the 770 doesn't have the bus width to handle 4GB, they will be hotter, will consume more power, have less compatibility with older games and games that have ill support for SLI/CrossfireX, and have more of a chance of failing. It's like RAID 0. Risky, but FAST. Except you can't back up a graphics card (no shit, Sherlock)

@Jon107 Are you going to use this system mainly for gaming ot are there other applications you are going to utilize. If youre only gonna use it for gaming another setup might be a better value. Also what is your max buget?

Get an i5 instead of the i7.  You will only see at most a 10% performance increase with an i7 if the program is written to take advantage of hyper-threading.  Otherwise the performance is lower than 10% if the OS is diving tasks to virtual cores.  Not worth the 33% increase in cost.

Get a 780 instead of a 770.

Don't know about your speaker setup, but if it's not top-notch then I would think about dropping the sound card to save the money.

I don't really have a budget but I wouldn't wanna go much over what's in there. The computer will be mostly for gaming but I do store a lot data on my computer and I've seen that I need the SSD space for all my stuff :). Not 100% sure about the sound card and I might be able to drop the 4770k for 4670k.

Wait a week or two until 780Ti arrives.

I bet the 780 will drop to 350€ ;)

Probably not. The price of the 780 is superb ATM it's like 420 euros and if it'll drop down more than that nvidia will probably make a 'loss' or break even because remember : GK-110 is a big chip and expensive to maunafacturer

This should be a good Pc for around 1600 € : https://www.mindfactory.de/shopping_cart.php and get this ram http://geizhals.at/de/g-skill-ripjawsx-dimm-kit-16gb-f3-2133c9d-16gxh-a739429.html (normally you can get it on mindfactory but they are out of stock)

My Pc: Cpu: I7 4790k @ 4,8 Ghz @1,25 volts, Motherboard: Maximus VII Formula, Graphicscard: 2x Titan X @1,4 at stock voltage (soon to be replaced), Ram: 32 gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 Cl 9, SSD: 2x 850 Pro 1 Tb in Raid 0, 2x Samsung 840 Evo 1 tb raid 1,, PSU: Corsair HXi Series 1000W 80+ Platinum, Case: H440. 350, no way dude, AMD is SOO screwed then... if AMD goes bankrupt no more pushing to NVIDIA and intel (not that they are pushing them anyway), prices will be damn high, NOOOO!!!

thats just a doomsday senario.... :P

Well let's just wait two weeks and see what happens when 780GHz and 780Ti arrive ;)

Maybe I am wrong, but 420€ for a  GTX 780 and 260€ for a GTX 770 still seems like a good deal.

is still amazing, i hope AMD wasn't hoping to keep this generation for 2 years like the last one....

The Seasonic G-Serie 550w is a better quality PSU and will last longer than the chosen RM. The RM series use CapXon and Ltec secondary caps, both which are not known for lasting long and being of good quality. And because of the Semi-passive design the caps can get nice and hot.

Also I think your motherboard is way to expensive, if you want the plastic buy it, but consider the VI Hero that is ~€150,- cheaper.
