what phones are you using, normally you need ip phones to do this.

What service?

The power for ip phones normally comes over POE.

No reason why you can't use those cables but how you go about it depends on your setup. Specifically what type of phones you're using and what type of VoIP setup you have. If you have VoIP phones with an ethernet port on the back? What you need is a Switch. If you instead have a VoIP port on your ISP provided modem and a bunch of standard phones? You can basically just use your ethernet runs as phone extensions. In that case what you want are either RJ45 to RJ12 reducers or better still a pair of RJ45 spliters. There's nothing magical about an ethernet cable it's just wires.

Fools think they know everything, experts know they know nothing

You can get a VOIP base station and use wireless DECT phones.

If it is truly VOIP, you can put a phone anywhere connected to your network, even on WiFi.
