GTX 1080 SLI (used 2x) VS Single 1080 TI / AMD GPU

Not worth arguing over. People who hate on SLI are usually parroting what people paid by manufacturers to sell hardware say. So of course they'll think SLI is bad. It takes away sales.

 

The 1080ti will not happen until a AMD card matches the Pascal Titan X.

Hiho,

 

CES was disappointing and there's no 1080 TI available yet. Price is going to be around £750-£800 anyway so I was thinking to maybe buy two GTX 1080s to SLI (I don't care about "SLI issues" so don't even start. If you comment about SLI issues I will ignore. I had SLI before and I'm fine with it) instead of waiting for 1080 TI or AMD Vega?

 

I have no GPU now but I'm not desperate.

I would go for a single 1080, or SLI 1070 if you REALLY need the performance, but not 1080 SLI

Get 2 1080s. The 1080 Ti isn't confirmed and AFAIK Vega won't be more powerful than a single 1080....

Wait. You never know. There is no harm in buying a pair of 1080 in SLI when 1080 Ti gets released. At least then you know you made a right choice. If you buy it now and then suddenly seeing 1080 Ti becomes so powerful and regret who's to blame?

i didn't say to crossfire i said wait for the new gpu before jumping. crossfire and sli is stupid Nvidia is slowly cutting the cord on these setup too many issues.

I don't think that we will see a 1080 Ti this year. Unless AMD's Vega outperforms a 1080, I don't think Nvidia will release the 1080 Ti at all....

No they didnt want it on the 1060 so the same thing that happened last time with 970 SLI wont happen

AMD's Vega won't be much faster than a Single 1080..... A 1080 SLI would outperform it by a pretty comfortable margin....

well he can do a sli but its kinda pointless, most games won't support it and some games won't even work with sli.

There are many of us on this forum that have been using SLI since it was available.

Well, did you use a high bandwidth SLI bridge for testing to ensure the best possible performance and scaling?

I had 780 TI is SLI 5 months ago (I sold the pair) and it was working fine. I sold it only because prices were rapidly decreasing and I wanted an upgrade anyway. I don't understand why people have issues with SLI?
