So steam sale rolled around and i was wondering if the metro bundle is worth picking up.
not much into First person shooters and wanted to start of with something story based, also i have only under $5 in my steam wallet, so back to my question, is it worth buying or should i wait and buy something else ?

Happy Holidays, Thanks all.

If you like horror, it's a solid choice for the first dive in. As a shooter, it's pretty good, but the mechanics have shied people away.

It gets my recommendation for story and gameplay. If it's any consolation, the start menu has more story than Battlefield 3.

I bought the Redux bundle on sale. They're very technically impressive, but since I'm not into FPS games either, I didn't like them.

There are far better games if you're into good story content. Consider checking out point-and-click style games like Life is Strange, Tales from the Borderlands, or The Walking Dead. Another incredible series is The Journey Down, an Indie series and one of the most charming games I have ever played, with an original, compelling atmosphere. The only problem is that it's a trilogy, and the finale is as of yet unreleased and there is no ETA.

If you're a Star Wars fan, a truly timeless, uniquely story-driven experience is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. In my opinion, it presents a better Star Wars story and atmosphere than any of the movies, books, or other games, and is widely regarded as one of the best RPGs and story-driven games ever made.

They're two of my favorite shooters ever. Not everyone feels quite that strongly about it, but for just $5 they would only be a bad choice if you just didn't like FPS games at all.

I'd recommend playing them in Russian language with English subtitles, and on Ranger difficulty, and Survival mode. Metro is at its best when it is as immersive, tense, and atmospheric as possible.

Most definetly! Not too long ago, I just bought the redux bundle and don't regret it one bit. I will say that I feel 2033 has good story, but I also have to say that Last Light feels like it has better gameplay as far as shootouts and stealth.

Oh my what a bunch of underrated games, the metro games are some of the most immersive intense and graphically intensive games i've played, the story is never excellent even if it's based off a book, but the graphics and sound design really capture the feeling of a crowded underground metro where people are scared and hungry, the combat is difficult realistic and challenging, if you like any horror games or immersive games you'd be doing yourself a favor buying this game

Just get them. They're good games that are very impressive graphically. I can't say whether you'll like them or not, but what's the worst case? You're out the cost of a meal at McDonalds? It's not like you're throwing $60 at a game you're unsure of.

Of course if you really want something with a great story that's cheap, consider the first two Fallouts. Fallout 2 has far and away my favorite storyline in the series. It's one of the great gaming stories I have played. But you really should play Fallout 1 first (Fallout 1 is also excellent, though not as great as Fallout 2).

Having played both 2033 and Last Light, I personally think Last Light was better.

Overall pretty decent games and I'm considering picking up the books considering Metro: 2035 was just recently released which is inspired by the Last Light game which wasn't the actual canon sequel.

That's probably because 2033 is based off of the book while Last Light is a game-only story. I agree on both counts though.

Is The Witcher 3 GOTY still on sale? It should be $7-$10. It's the best Steam deal by far.

I would pick Metro over Fallout any time, Fallout is fine but I feel its too RPG style makes it slow and I lose interest too quick, Metro games on the other hand reminds me a lot of Half-Life which is as good as it can get before VALVe goes back into developing single player games.
