I think you need to set it up.

Can you connect to it?

If yes, try typing in in the browser your gateway (usually 192.168.1.1 ) and try logging in and setting it up.

Yea I've tried the set up wizard and gone through it but it's still not giving me access via computer or phone, having to use 3G currently :/

Is the DSL connection in the right port? Just making sure, since both connections have an X I'm wondering if the cable isn't connected to the correct port.

So who is your ISP?

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

What was your previous setup, and what are you trying to change it to?
I guess it was isp combo -> devices, and now you are trying to go isp combo -> router -> devices.
You need to disable dhcp on the combo unit, change the routers ip to static, enable dchp on the router and add dns servers. (probably)

So does your internet come through the splitter? Is it a normal ethernet connector or something else?

I think the internet needs to go in the blue port on the back of the router, what does it say the blue port is for?

DHCP tells devices where to connect and how, and the ip addresses are the location of the device on the network. Ip addresses and dns come from the dhcp, which the router takes care of.

The Internet comes through the splitter yes, normal Ethernet, blue port reads E-wan and the splitter wire doesn't fit in there.

Is the wire too big or too small?

Does the back look like this?

If so, then the splitter wire goes in the white port.

Seen as it is adsl you need to put in your username and password, you can get those from your isp if you dont have them already.
You can put those in using the quick internet setup wizard.
There is more information in the manual, page 14 http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/DSL-AC55U/E11623_DSL_AC55U_Manual.pdf

I have already got the physical copy of this but thanks, I've got through these steps over and over but nothing is changing. it says that I should have information from my ISP but tells me nothing of what I should have :/

Ask your isp for your username and password. Say them you got a new modem and need to activate it.

you don't need username password if I remember correctly, just came from talktalk myself... are you on adsl or fibre (vdsl)?

There is usually a drop down box you have to select which you intend to use adsl/vdsl  as they use the same connector RJ11 by the way, not RJ45 ethernet.
