RX 480 BIG Performance Issue

The clock appears to be not as bad right now, although I'm still maxing out at 85 fps, which is still worse than my previous card. When I monitor the clocks it seems they periodically drop also.

So the clock speeds are fine now...can you try something else and see what FPS you get?

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Mentioning it again your clocks are low as hell. I get 700 FPS with a RX 480 at the settings your talking about not OCed so its a single issue to you. Deffenitly a driver issue. Are you sure you downloaded the right drivers? And just a quick note SEUS is crap on the RX 480 because it hasnt been program for it AT ALL. I got 30FPS on medium shaders with it and 300 without

My drivers are right, I've tried using newer and older drivers with no success. This is just really devastating for me, considering I spending all this money on a card that is essentially a downgrade.

So it works fine in other games?

From what I've seen, it appears only very AMD optimized games.

Try RMAing your card? Since you bought it off amazon, it should be pretty easy :D

Oh come on! Did you not read the thread?!? He said multiple times that he is getting WORSE framerates with the RX 480 than the GTX 750ti.

I'd prefer not to RMA, due to I don't even know if it doesn't work. And I really wanted to be able to get use out of my card whilst I'm on break. When I went into Wolfenstein: The New Order, I had very poor frame rates. (44avg) max settings. I don't know if it's supposed to be like that, or if it's just my card.

You are the fifth person to say this. READ the thread. I state that I previously had a worse GPU which ran MUCH better than the current one.

Actually, try flashing the BIOS from MSis website onto the card if you can. If not, RMA

I didn't see these suggestions before (skimmed the thread).

1.) Are you sure you didn't get the APU driver instead of the dedicated graphics driver for RX-series? (Happened to me before)

2.) Did you uninstall the Nvidia driver in SAFE MODE? If not do that and use CCleaner to clean registry before installing the AMD driver.

if possible try the RX 480 on another PC before you send it back. If it's a software issue with you PC you will waste a lot of your time...

That is indeed very poor...

By the way, what's the highest core clocks is the RX480 going upto?

Also:

Spoiler

It seems that maybe the RX480 just plainly doesn't like minecraft? :/

Seems to relate exactly to my issue, although those Wolfenstein Benchmarks are in 1440p, I'm just playing in 1080p and receiving the same horrid frame rates.

I could be that the RX 480 doesn't like minecraft. I got a RX 480 for christmas to replace my GTX 750ti and when i get home in three days I can test that. I use linux.

Just stating how you should be getting higher FPS in wolfenstein in general :D

Can you try CSGO again? the performance shouldn't be worse and at tops only marginally better as CSGO is a CPU bound game ;)

I tried CS:GO a moment ago, It had very inconsistent FPS. from 50 to 100 to 70 ect

I feel as this is an issue with your GPU and probably need a RMA...unless it's an issue with your PSU...

I'll wait it out a bit (But not too long). Perhaps AMD will make another update.

Minecraft - CPU bound, OpenGL

Wolfensten:TNO - OpenGL

CSGO - CPU bound, OpenGL?

Do you have any DX9/DX11/DX12 games that is not CPU bound to test?

Nah I didn't read, because that would be the correct assumption from reading the specs.

Id be trying more than just two driver versions.

Until clocks are actually at their rated clocks Id be doing driver multiple swaps.

It is possible to have another set have the same bugs.

Only when clocks are what they should be.. is when true diagnostics should be actually be used to fix it.

Until then.. the low memory speed clocks will always be the issue.

You said its the same or better now on the clocks?

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
