Learn by copying

You don't have to start with your own sketch off the bat. There are tons of free tutorials put up by illustrators. You can start off by copying them. Draw what's on those tutorials.

That's atleast how i picked it up. Was too focused on my own sketch and style in the start but everything always seemed off. Until i was told to learn by copying so i gathered loads of references and just started drawing them. Once I've gained enough steam I tried one sketch and it seemed easier. The sketch was also a lil bit more dynamic rather then the lifeless sketches i used to draw.

That's the problem.

When I copy something, my body feels as if I'm "cheating", regardless of what the purpose it.

I just can't get myself to copy.. something. Even though I want to, my mind just refuses. It's weird, I know.

You don't have to replicate the drawing fully.

You can use the drawing as reference to get a similar sketch. That wouldn't be copying anymore.

It's hard to give advice without knowing where you are now in terms of skill. Anyways, studying anatomy always helps. As well as trying to find out what makes a pose interesting.

Also, it's best practice to first learn (a bit) of realism before simplifying/stylizing (which is what the manga/anime style is), because otherwise you will just have an 'inbred style'. Basically copying a copy of reality will make you omit some details which may cause some uncanny results.
