Mojang releases Minecraft: Apple TV Edition and Windows 10 Edition is out of Beta

Actually, thanks for reminding me. This requires Apple TV 4th Generation which almost nobody has lol.

Pretty much this, plus no proper mod support to speak of.  Most of the servers I play on are on highly custom spigot, bukkit, etc.  Many actually stay on a version of Minecraft behind or more for the mods.

 

Java Minecraft is going no where.  Even if Microsoft drops support for the Java version, the modding community is most likely to keep supporting that version.
