PSU suddenly died. HELP!

Go to solution Solved by STRMfrmXMN,

An RMA would be your best bet if the PSU self-tester doesn't work.

My seasonic 620w PSU suddenly died last night. I was watching in youtube then my pc shutdown then when i triying to turn it on again it won't. There is no power indicator in my motherboard. Then i began troubleshooting my pc but still no power. then i tried to plug my pc to other socket but still no problem. Then i use my old 450w power supply and then my pc turns on. I also test my seasonic 620w PSU using the paperclip method. And the psu fan didn't spin. I am worrying about how to RMA my psu because my PSU is out of shop warranty last november and my only option is the 5yr manufacturer warranty from seasonic.

My pc:

  • CPU
    Intel i5-4670K (not oc'ed
  • Motherboard
    Asus B85m-Gamer
  • RAM
Gskills Ripjaws 8gb dual channel 1333mhz
  • GPU
Zotac GTX 1060 6gb AMP edition (not oc'ed)
  • Storage
sandisk ssd plus 120gb, 1TB toshiba 7200rpm, Western Digital 250gb Blue, Seagate 250gb
  • PSU
    seasonic s12ii 620w
  • Cooling
    cooler master hyper 212
  •
I also got 4 deepcool 120mm fans. 3 of them is plug directly in the PSU and the last one is on the Mobo fan header.

for now i use my old corsair VS450 PSU.

is my setup is too much for my 620w PSU? or 1yr is really the lifetime of that kind of PSU?

Yeah bro. I agree. Before i buy this PSU i research reviews and PSU tier. and ask a friend about it. I am dissapointed. So is my 450w PSU is still enough for my rig?

Yes, im contacting them right now. But unfortunately the online RMA in my country is not available. so they suggest me to contact their distributor in my country, so a hassle in my part. Also i've been using my PSU for about a year and almost a month. So damn. it even got 2 years in my rig. I also never OC'ed my gpu and CPU. so really frustrated and dissapointed bro.

SeaSonic PSUs do not start with the paperclip test - I verified this with my SeaSonic M12II-520 EVO

put the PSU back in the system and test again - if it doesn't start, RMA

Just 1 more question I replace all of my Case fans in taht night when my PSU got broke. I was thingking that can it probably cause the problem? i use 4 120mm deepcool fans?

any help pls?

Just for a sanity check, you didn't accidently flip the power switch on the back of PSU right? Otherwise, try turning the switch on / off.

I'm doubtful the case fans would be the cause of the problem.

As stated above, the PSU probably decided to die...from what, I'm not sure.
