Quiet but aesthetically pleasing case?

MxZeal

In the past month I've been upgrading a lot of my PC parts and I think its time to upgrade from my HAF 32 because its so damn noisy

Is the define R5 still considered the BEST silent case? Because to be it looks really ugly.

Can you guys who are more up to date on parts name some silent but nice cases?

Budget 50-100 USD (I'm Canadian so it will be almost double the price) i will most likely always pick the best budget or "bang per dollar"

At the moment i only know of the fractal R5 and the H440

Define S.

But If you want a smaller case, then stay away from the Define R and S' - they're pretty large.

that's a good question. Phanteks P400S is a nice quiet case. If it weren't for the price tag, the Define would have been on my desk instead, but that's based on the beauty of it, not the sound reduction. I've not myself seen a comparison apples to apples.

One more question, should i also ditch my h80i for a cpu air cooler? I never had an air cooler are those supposedly quieter? I've heard of something called a semi fanless cooler

If you already have it then stick with it imo. Sure the pumps on the aio's are a little loud but majority of sound comes from the fans on the radiator. Just replace those with some silent ones and you'll be good.

I own a Be-Quiet Silent Base 800 and it's really quiet. Surely I've changed almost all case fans on it to even better ones which has reduced overall noise a lot, but the stock ones still make it a good case for quiet computing. And keep in mind that I live in the country side, so the noise floor is quite low here than in a suburb or city.

You also have the smaller Silent Base 600, and the even larger Be-Quiet Dark Base 900. As for the SIlent Base 800 though, it would work but it's probably not optimal for watercooling, at least for regular dual fan radiators.

Keep in mind though that some PC cases built for quiet operation can be kinda restrictive for the airflow, which can result in more turbulence in the few places where air is supposed to get in or out, which in turn contributes to more noise. On the other hand though, the turbulence noise itself is dampened due to the material of the case.

Don't forget to invest in an Intel Tuning Plan if you're going to overvolt your K/X CPU

If you're going to say you want something aesthetically pleasing, you might want to include what you find aesthetically pleasing in the OP.
