A day after inviting members of its Explorers program to swap their old frames for new ones, Google Glass is showing the world what the latest model looks like. In a post on Google+, the company shows a slightly modified version of Glass that includes a removable mono earbud. These will also be the first models to support prescription lenses, the company said.

Members of the Explorers program will be allowed to invite up to three friends to purchase the $1,500 hardware. The move comes as Google is reportedly ramping up production of Glass, and possibly building a crazy floating showroom for them in the San Francisco Bay. A version of Glass targeted at more mainstream customers is expected to go on sale next year.

Neato, but I really wish that Google would come out with a "fullscreen" version of Glass, like on the Meta. Now with this announcement, let's see those improved specs Google...

Well seeing as that they're not available to the public yet, I'd say so.

Would have liked to see the earbud to be coming near the back to make it not so weird with a wire sticking out and made it more low profile. Wonder how the audio quality is.

exactly. the stock looks were bad.. the addition of the earbud made it truly hideous. But that's just my personal opinion. I was exited for glass.. but i could not pull off that look...

Better be decent, especially with that hefty price tag.

The earbud was a "necessary evil" though.

And nobody can pull off that look.

I'm guessing it will still use bone conduction with these being optional in case you want to listen to music.

You're actually going to get one? That's surprising. I thought you would have just made a "Ghetto Glass".
