Logitech G230 has finally died. Any recommendations on replacements? (sub-$200)

Phentos

My Logitech G230 headset has finally given up after 3 years of extremely heavy use, from which I've been more than pleased with how long the headset has lasted. However, the cord has finally pulled out of the in-line controller and I lack the know-how to replace it.

I had been wanting to move up a notch in headphone quality though, not that I had any problems with the G230. However I just want something a little... more.

Hard budget limit is $200. I would like to go wireless if possible, as dealing with a cord with my setup is aggravating (gets caught in my chair wheels fairly often).

When it comes to headphone comfort, I place a large priority on that, and the G230 delivered in spades on that front. I was able to wear them for extended gaming sessions with no discomfort, so I would like to maintain that feeling with the replacement set.

Also, I'm no audiophile but I would like a bit more punch and depth with the sound. The surround sound offered in many headsets would be a bonus.

Microphone attachment is mandatory. My current setup and living environment are not amenable to a desktop mic (lack of space).

I had been looking at the Logitech G933 and the Kingston HyperX headsets.

Turtle Beach stealth 450s come in priced a little bit under the g933 but blows it out of the water on sound quality, I strongly recommend them. Once you go wireless you will never buy a wired headset again :D

My cousin has the Cloud II and he sounds terrible over both Teamspeak and Discord. He's not that satisfied with them either.

Also what's bad about the dongle? Just curious.

I've gone through 3 Turtle Beach headphones in 18 months before getting the G230. I will never go with that brand again.

I suppose that makes 2 of us. I got 2 buggered G930s before I stopped buying them :D. The only headset I truely recommend people avoid are creative sound blaster evos, they're truely awful.

But nah I completely understand, once people get bit its perfectly normal to not go buy the same thing again.

All in one solution - HyperX Cloud line (core -1 - 2) is a good option. All are the same difference in the accessories. Get Cloud 1 and you will be satisfied :D

Closed headphone - DT770 pro 80 ohms, better than m50x with controlled bass & better soundstage

Open headphone - ATH 700x or DT990

You can attach modmic to any of them :D

Cpu R5 1600 @3.7ghz - MB Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3 - RAM Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GBx2 @3000mhz - GPU Palit GTX 1070ti Dual - Storage Kingston FuryX 120GB SSD, WD 500GB Green HDD, Seagate 1TB HDD - PSU Seasonic X650 - Case Sharkoon S25-W - Display Zowie XL2411 - Peripherals Filco Ninja Browns, Zowie FK2 & Qck Hyperbeast Ed.

Ok. The DT770 intrigues me.

Suppose I wanted to buy a small desktop mic that's less than 60-70 bucks. What options would I be looking at there?

Hmmm, i usually suggest getting a modmic, in this case blue snowball ice should get the job done i guess.

Samson Meteor, Blue Snowball.  I would recommend the Meteor over the Snowball but the Snowball is slightly cheaper.

Interesting. I'll look into the Meteor.

Anyhow, any good wireless headsets besides the Turtle Beach set mentioned before?
