Racing games are an amazing experience at 144fps imo. I'd get that.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Games look the same on 1080p like on 1440p.

The only difference is the amount of AA you will need to use.

There is difference between 16:9 and 21:9 in FOV.

So my answer is definitely 144Hz 1080p over 60Hz 1440p for games.

For desktop use the 1440p is so much better due to a lot bigger  screen real estate.

I'd still do it personally, if you're competitive about shooting then it'll help.

What games do you play? Or genre, actually.

1080p 144hz will last longer for gaming on that 1070 than 1440p will. Higher res is kind of a meme right now and the 1070 stands right in the middle of which res is best for it.

i'm running a 1440p 60hz IPS monitor for a few months now and it's a very noticeable improvement over 1080p. that said if you play a lot of fast-paced games then 1080p 144hz is the way to go

huh? 144Hz is harder to run than 60Hz

Read again. I was talking about 1440p vs 1080p in games and THEN about 60Hz vs 144Hz AND 16:9 vs 21:9 AND desktop use

I was not talking about performance requirements for 1440p 60Hz vs 1080p 144Hz because OP has PC that can handle both easily.
