What to do with a Compaq Presario

Today my neighbor gave me an "old" computer that they didn't need. It is a Compaq Presario SR5710Y. It is completely stock, so you can see the specs listed on the front panel picture. What should I do with this machine? FreeNAS box? Media center box? Thanks guys!

When my neighbor gave me like 5 old PCs. I took the best parts out of each and made a F@H PC.

Those options sound good. I would turn it into a sleeper PC if I had one.

I'd personally shove FreeNAS or OMV on it. It'd also be a fine (albeit limited) Plex server.

Ok. I was leaning towards the NAS idea as I have another similar system I'm about to convert into a Media Center.

you can build a pfsense router out of it with NAS functionality and maybe media centre functionality (dunno if pfsense supports that)

That's a good idea. I didn't know pfSense had NAS functionality. I'll look into it.

most modern routers do nowdays so pfSense definitly does  it also supports torrent clients i believe and maybe even music streaming or something like that which is pretty useful.

Based on the pictures provided, I suspect the one year limited warranty has expired.

Late update, but since I found out it had a full, licensed copy of MS Office Enterprise 2007 on it, I took the key and reformatted the machine. I'm installing Office on it later.
