Op able to delete crap

Go to solution Solved by Blade of Grass,

It's been asked about before and the conclusion we came to was no, for almost exactly the reasons that @LoGiCalDrm said.

So I've been asking for help with dial up, and all I get is idiots who can't read the box, and assume that they know everything, and be dish bags about it (If you couldn't tell im really pissed off at people like these) I think an op shold be able to delete things that don't relate.

I can relate to what you are talking about but I disagree with this feature completely. Reason why is because if there is any controversial content present the OP can be a complete asshat and delete opinions they may not agree with. OP could also delete posts from people calling him out or anything else like that.

I do think this should be a feature on personal walls, however.

Nope, terrible idea. If someone were to post an "AMD SUCKS DICK LOL" or a "TIM COOK IS LITERALLY HITLER ROFL" thread, people disagreeing (quite rightly) with the OP would just be deleted.

Case in point: I just told you that this was a horrible idea. If your idea was implemented, you would be able to just delete this. Obviously not ideal.

Censorship on the internet, unless illegal, is a terrible idea generally.

If you feel like someone is intentionally being rude or non-helpful, report the posts and let mods handle it. Like @Railgun said, having delete feature for OP, or even allowing to remove certain users from conversation, would increase cyber-bullying and other situations where OP doesn't want or can't engage in meaningful debate.

There's ignore feature to keep idiots out of your site. Thats about all you can do.

That is a bad idea. OP could delete anything he/she wanted to, and there could be more damage done than it being useful.

I remember you very well so let's put you as an example. In the thread linked below

you accused LMG of becoming biased and on the 3rd page you made comments that go:

You for starters should not be allowed to edit the content in your threads. If you were allowed, you could just delete this comment as well.

I can swear there is even a worse thread you made in Off-Topic where you admitted on 2nd page iirc it's a troll thread but I honestly couldn't be bothered to search for it.

I find it really ironic interesting when trolls complain about users not helping.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.
