Posted November 27, 2016 Hi there, as from the title i am lagging in games i shouldn't be, i know this as a fact because my best mate has the same hardware as me apart from the RAM Speed and i have a better GPU (GTX 1060 3GB Windforce OC) and a Black edition drive with a SSD, Specs Listed below CPU - FX-6300 MB - GA-970-Gaming RAM - G.Skill 2x4GB DDR3 1866MHz GPU - Gigabyte GTX 1060 3GB Windforce OC HDD - WD 1TB Black Edition Drive SSD - Samsung 850 Evo 250GB -------- Now the games im lagging on are Minecraft, i dont get a stable 60 FPS, even on lowest, im having major lag spikes on Overwatch, and all sorts of other games, i would like to know what part is messing up, if its hardware, cables etc etc. please help and thankyou if you need more info please ask. Posted November 27, 2016 Check the CPU and cpu load in MSi after burner. Your 1060 should stomp Overwatch - my 970 does on epic settings. Minecraft might be CPU limited, tho I'm not sure on that.. The AMD 970 chipset is limited to pcie gen 2 but that shouldn't really be an issue outside of pro benchmarking.... Maybe use Afterburner or Hwinfo & see if the game is trying to use more than the 3gb frame buffer on the GPU? Otherwise maybe clear out all the drivers & reinstall. Posted November 28, 2016 If his friend has the same PC and isn't having issues, then something else is causing the problem. First of all, are those new harddrives and is your OS a fresh install or are you using parts from a previous build with a OS that was already there? Second double check using some monitoring programs that your CPU is not overheating/throttling and is running at the full stock speeds when in games. Finally did you do any kind of overclocking? even if the PC doesn't crash, an unstable overclock can cause these issues. Also is there an auto OC feature in your BIOS and is that turned on? Posted November 28, 2016 all the drivers are up to date? and what version of windows are you using? there was an issue with windows 7 not properly utilizing FX series cpus and Microsoft released 2 hot-patch to fix the issue. If you are on windows 7, try to find those patches on google. Also try some benchmarks and make sure your CPU is running at full speed at least; not just if it's running at 100% or not but if its running at the right speeds. If you're running windows 10 change power option to high performance then disable p2p updates (google to figure out how) might as well disable all the other dumb crap they use your bandwidth for as well. Another idea, could this be a ram problem, my motherboard doesnt want to run the ram full speed, and only runs it at 1600 instead of 1866, could that be a problem? Next question, what is your internet connection speed like and are you connected via WIFI or Ethernet? Ethernet allows for faster connection speeds and lower latencies compared to WIFI. Posted November 28, 2016 Try Geekbench or Cinebench, have CPU-Z open and HWMonitor when you do the test, make sure the clockspeed goes to the max speed on CPU-Z and HWMonitor. Make sure the windows 10 drivers are installed for the montherboard. 1600mhz vs 1866mhz won't cause the type of issues you are experiencing.
