Should I install windows 10?

Go to solution Solved by Mr.Meerkat,

Windows 10 it is...now time to back up my pictures and completely wipe all three drives :P (and redownload 1TB of games)

So I'm about to reinstall windows on my computer and I was wondering whether I should install windows 7 (again) or just go to windows 10? I've got windows 10 on my laptop so I know what it's like to use so...should I? :D

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Hmmmm...I guess I could just clear my 500GB SSD and dedicate that to windows 10...although I don't see why I would dual boot 2 versions of windows :P

Compatibility reasons. You could go straight for Windows 10 since it's a little faster in most regards.

to be honest.. all the folks saying windows 7 is superior are in denial.

windows 7 is an old sluggish piece of junk.

windows 10 is pretty great but you MUST disable telemetry and spying

not "must" as much as "just honestly do it"

i'd be a-okay with the level telemetry if it was a free piece of software, but for the money that goes into a windows license, i'm rather disappointed to see this be a thing.

But some features will be unavailable, like parental advisory and some other stuff.

Of coures, you can find workarounds, but why you have to? :)

you dont need to do that, just copy their game files on an external drive and then put it back after you've installed steam/origin etc

8.1 is okay, its just Metro that really throws me off it, however with 10 and 8.1 I've never had any problems, I don't have complaints revolving around 10 either, but yes, 7, no.

I was resistant to change, but for my new PC I wen't for win10, it is sometimes annoying with regard to updates and such, but overall better in my opinion.

and I guess safer? security updates and such, but I know very little in the area, mostly what I hear people say.

It's simple. Is there anything in Win 10 you really want/need? If not, go with Windows 8/8.1 or 7. Generally speaking, the forced upgrades introduce the risk of breaking your system. Automatic driver updates may install broken drivers (happened 2 times already with my systems...).

The whole Upgrade/Update-System is a mess right now, that just doesn't exist with 7 or 8.

So there has to be a reason, to go with 10, because there are some downsides for sure.
