Airplane gaming for the poor man

AceHelosis

So I saw AwesomeSauceNetwork's Video on Airplane gaming. My one problem is that he's playing Doom. I dont have Doom and I dont want to pay for it rn cause im saving up for a new desktop.

So my question is:
What are some good free games for PC that are fun, offline and fit for playing on an airplane?

just looking for some suggestions =D
thanks

Depends on what your laptop can do. I usually end up playing AoE2 and older Sim City titles (not just SC2K) because they're easy, low-power titles that don't require an external mouse.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

There is a reason handheld gaming devices exist. :)

If I were on my computer though, I'd play something like "This War of Mine" or any 2D platformer like "Rogue Legacy" if I wanted something faster. But those aren't free.

Or, I could play a slow paced strategy game like "Buzz Aldrin's Space Program Manager." or the previous installment "Race into Space."

Both are games about the US space program racing the beat the Soviets into space, to the moon, and to other planets. It's a strategy game about taking risks (should I launch if my engineers say I only have a 70% chance of success? I know if I don't the soviets will be there next turn...) and managing everything from what to research to who to train for what missions.

I slightly preferred the first, older one (Race into space) because it's a bit more simple and the learning curve isn't so steep. There is a ton of replayability too. The first one is free, the second one is not.
