Is there any real difference between ddr3 2400 vs ddr4 2400 in benchmarks?

Performance wise, ram at any speed will be about the same. There are very few workloads that will actually show any difference between RAM running at 1600 vs 3000. DDR3vsDDR4 also really makes no practical difference, its just a matter of which mobo you get.

When in doubt, re-format.

ddr3 2400 is actually generally faster because of the lower latencies.

Benchmarks suggest it improves minimum framerates (of course depending on the game).

If you're using a Pentium or i3, you may see improvements in all games due to more bandwidth being available to the CPU so long as the CAS latency doesn't negate the speed.
